2 hour wait to collect our vehicle. We arrived to collect at 10.30 - as per our booking - and didn’t leave until almost 1. There were about 6 people in front of us but each car took at least 20 minutes to sort. We asked the staff why the wait was so long and if it was particularly busy but apparently that is just standard and they advise arriving 2 hours prior to collection. I’ve hired plenty of cars and this isn’t normal anywhere else. There’s a really good Enterprise on Granville which I would recommend.

Very rude telephone manner in the booking procedure with a man from the branch. I hope that the booking goes smoothly. With only a reservation number and no confirmation email or text I'm concerned.

We we're waiting here for 2 hours before we got our car which we'd booked 9 months before. It took half an hour to get to the desk and even though we were supposed to have picked up our car an hour before, the car wasn't 'ready' and still needed to be cleaned which apparently would only take 10 mins.... it took half an hour. The car wasn't even clean. It had just been sprayed with water which made it impossible to check the car out for damage. When we got in the car the low washer fluid indicator starting beeping too. Don't bother with these guys, no apologies for the wait either. I always use Avis, they're usually good but this location is awful. If you're going to use Avis use one of the others in the city. Much quicker and much better service. We missed our ferry because of the delay and also didn't make the next ferry because it was full when we arrived so instead of having a nice day on Vancouver Island we instead spent the day waiting around in the car for a ferry that left 4 and half hours after the one we should have been on.

PLEASE AVOID. Pretty disappointed with Avis Vancouver. Reserved a vehicle 2 months in advance and arrived to pick up the car to be told there are no cars available for hours, potentially the next day. Poorly managed with nothing offered for compensation for the inconvenience. Apparently this is a very common occurrence. I would suggest going to enterprise or a similar competitor for a much better experience.
