Probably the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I waited in line for 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the rental counter. The line was ridiculously long and the staff were doing nothing to speed up the process. Instead of processing customers quickly, they were pushing hard to get people to upgrade their vehicle plus buy insurance and gas. I felt they were taking advantage of people, particularly those that did not speak English well. I saw one Asian man given a lower category vehicle and told that it was an upgrade. They were running short of cars and they told me they were giving me a better car because they didn't have what I reserved. Upon checking the paperwork I discovered they had also charged me a higher rate but I mad them honor the original quote. The line was so long and people were getting so frustrated that people at the end of the line were going to the Avis Preferred line even though they weren't entitled, thus cutting in front of people who had been in line for an hour or more. To make it worse, as the Preferred line got longer, they moved staff from the regular line to take care of the "Preferred" customers who were laughing about it. Needless to say, the people who were waiting patiently were not very happy and Avis did nothing about it. I rent from Avis fairly frequently but have never felt the need to sign up for preferred treatment. I will never rent another Avis car again after this experience and warn everyone about the Vancouver Canada Avis location. I also wonder why there are never any female Avis agents at this location?

I rent the car just the past memorial weekend there and it was simple and quick to pick up the car since I had a reservation online through Costco membership. The staff was very friendly and informative. The car looks brand new and well maintained. The drop off was also very quick and easy. Thank you for making my first time car rental experience in Vancouver not intimidating at all.

Recently rented a vehicle in Vancouver, the initial reading was recorded in Miles (as the car was driven from Washington State) and the final reading in kilometers and as a result we were charged an additional $181.00 for distances we did not drive, roughly 80% above what we had initially been charged. When asking Avis to look into the issue, they found no errors, which is basically unbelievable as it requires a few simple checks and balances to verify. Further to this, when we asked them to look into it further, they sent a generic email indicating they had already completed their review and would not look into it further - extremely poor customer service. Further to this, t the car hadn't even been properly cleaned prior to our picking it up. We were in a hurry to get to our reservation and decided to deal with the garbage inside the vehicle and clean the bird excrement off of it using a squeegee at one of the gas stations we decided to fill up at. This whole experience has left a foul taste in our mouth on an otherwise enjoyable vacation. Neither I nor my girlfriend have ever dealt with this with other major car rental company. It is especially displeasing considering this came on an error from one of their employees and the initial reading of the odometer. Despite what their contracts say, it is not the responsibility of the client to ensure that the documented condition and initial mileage of the vehicle – i.e. I do not have my clients check my work. We will no longer be using Avis for future rentals and will definitely be recommending for our friends and family to do the same, citing our experience and your inability of them to track records and perform simple calculations. It is also our suspicion that they realized the previous customer was undercharged but could no longer pursue them for the amount they owe so have decided it okay to pass their savings onto us. Fast and friendly service. Easy to deal with. Vehicles are new and well maintained. I used to deal with a major competitor and constantly received nothing but grief. Am now an AVIS preferred customer and so very glad that I made the change. AVIS app is also easy to use.

My experience was satisfying. I was welcomed by friendly staff, who told me the policies and everything I needed to know. I asked lots of questions, and everything was answered with no complaints or bad faces. I asked for an economic car and received a Sportage, way better than what I was hoping for. The car was new, clean, perfect. The dropping off was perfect, with clear signs to reach the location, a nice staff to receive the car and a quick finishing service. For my experience, I recommend this service and company.
