I really liked that we inspected the vehicle together before and after. I got a free upgrade due to lack of availability of the economy car I reserved to an SUV. I wish all rental car companies would give a token of apology in gas credit for not having your requested car. While I did enjoy the bigger vehicle, I think I spent an additional 1/3 on gas, which is why I always choose the smallest car.

The guys at Ace were patient as they explained WHY Priceline said I was covered by insurance, yet they knew full well that the rental business did not accept their insurance. They told me that I can recoup some of my money. Regardless, the two guys at Ace we’re really good and really patient. 🤗. Thank you so much !

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would! In short, they had my son stranded and stressed at the Halifax Airport for 2 hours before he was able to make other arrangements with another company to rent a vehicle. I arranged a van rental for my 21 year old son who was coming to Nova Scotia with 6 friends for a week’s vacation. I know many car companies have a policy of not renting luxury vehicles or vans to people under 25, but I was able to rent a van for him online with Ace in Halifax. Because I knew not all companies rent vans to 21 year olds, I was very careful to read the fine print and there was no indication that he would have issues. I then called the company on two separate occasions to confirm that he would be able to rent the van and was told it would not be a problem. NOT TRUE! When my son landed in Halifax and took the shuttle to Ace’s off-site location, he was told he had to be 23 to rent a van. When I spoke to the lady at the counter and explained that I had called twice to confirm this rental, she wanted to know if I called the 1-800 number or directly to the counter in Halifax. Apparently, the 1-800 number doesn’t know this age policy and I was supposed to know that the left hand of this company doesn’t speak to the right hand! Ace had no available cars to rent to so we had to scrabble to find two available vehicles that this group of seven could rent to continue on with their holiday. It was a very stressful way to start their vacation and their travel budget took a hit because they had to rent two vehicles instead of one. Don’t rent from this company!

If given the option, I would have given Ace/Discount Car Rental 0 stars. Absolutely the worst car rental experience I've had in 20 years. We didn't arrive within 2 hours of our reservation so they gave our car away. This left a family of 7 (including 2 kids under 8 and and 83 year old woman) stranded at the airport. The girl who answered the phone when I called to get shuttled to their location was completely unsympathetic and said they were sold out. No options. You're out of luck even though my reservation said no need to reconfirmed. Apparently the company has been doing this all week according to airport personnel. This company will oversell their bookings and take whichever customer comes in first. Greedy and self-serving. Will NEVER use this company again and am sharing this experience with everyone I know.
