Quite possibly the worst rental car experience I've ever had. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted with a 35 minute wait for the shuttle and an hour at the rental desk - obviously there were not enough people working at the time. The ranking supervisor at the time - Mitch - was extremely unhelpful and lacked professionalism - saying "sorry there's nothing I can do about it 'bro'" when you don't have the car someone ordered is a great way to infuriate your customers and ensure we will never return. They really should have been running a three person operation - one running the shuttle, one prepping vehicles and one at the front desk - but they only had two people working and he could not for the life of him figure out why everyone was getting so crabby. I do a tonne of business travel and will NEVER rent from Europcar or Discount again. Good riddance. Get rid of the dead weight.

I wish I had read these other reviews before I booked with this company. Discount Car and Truck Rental on Sky Blvd (in the Quality Inn) in Halifax is the worst car rental company EVER! I would give them ZERO STARS** if I could. Recently rented a car from them, and within 3 hours the tire had a slow leak. When I returned the vehicle a couple of days later (after having to drive every day to put air in the tire), I was honest and told them their tire had a slow leak. They were fine and my husband and I were on our way. A week later a charge appears on my Visa for a replacement tire, and I was not even advised! I called to speak with the manager Ashley, and one of her employees, Amanda proceeded to tell me I must have run over something and I was at fault for the tire. After asking her for her information so I could call head office to deal with the matter, she refused to give me their last names. I called back the next day and spoke with the manager Ashley, who said I was at fault for the tire (even if they or the person before me) had run over something. When I proceeded to discuss the matter with her she got very defensive and rude. She refused to reverse the charge for me, and is now ignoring my emails asking for documentation. I will NEVER go back here again, I plan to call the Better Business Bureau, and I will also be getting in touch with Head office customer care to file a complaint. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE.

Unacceptable. I had reserved a Hyundai Elantra (or similar car) months in advance. I arrive at Halifax airport and call the company to get a shuttle (it is located a few minutes drive from the terminals). It took almost 30 minutes for them to arrive. By that time another couple has also arrived, also waiting to pick up a reservation. When we finally get to their office, they inform me that the only car available is a truck. Why didn’t they tell me this over the phone before they made me wait for them to pick me up? The other couple luckily was okay with the truck, but either way, one of us would have had to be turned away. Luckily I was in no rush, as I then had to wait for them to finish up with the couple, then drive me back to the main terminals where the rest of the rental agencies are, where I then had to rent a car, without reservation, which ended up costing hundreds more. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Lesson learned — not worth trying to save a few dollars. Go with the reputable companies in the airport.

Worst company ever!!! I’m never renting a car from this company. The location at Halifax international at the quality inn, is the worst. I returned the car at that location in impeccable condition but the girl Kaylie found 3 little dots near the trunk and claimed I made those. She brought her manager over who said because I signed it was my responsibility. The guy who rented me the car Chris came around to see the car, he was surprised that the 2 girls were making an issue about nothing. He was surprised they were writing a claim against me. He went to tell them that he had not pointed out the little dots to me when he did the inspection but the manager Ashley convinced him that she was going to start a claim. The girl who took the car back was the worst Kaylie who insisted that those dings were my responsibility. Ashley said that because I signed it was my responsibility as well. Most rental companies don’t even worry about little dents as there is normal wear and tear, but Ace has hired a bunch of idiots who are harassing clients for 3 little dots. Unbelievable!!! Big zero! I recommend no one rent a car from them to avoid harassment. Ruined my beautiful trip to Halifax.

This is a terrible car & truck rental agency. Go elsewhere. I rented a pick-up under the ACE / Discount Car & Truck banner. When I got there they rejected the insurance coverage I had purchased when renting the vehicle through Expedia, even though the coverage, through Allianz, a global provider, was far superior to their more expensive in-house insurance. They made me purchase their inferior insurance for a higher daily price; rip-off tactic. Second, I had reserved an F-150 Ford pick-up with a standard 6 foot bed. When I got there they only had a Toyota Tundra crew cab with a 5.5 foot bed, which did not work for me, and is not a similar vehicle, as they claimed. Save yourself the stress and expense, go elsewhere.
