Suggest to book your vehicle on line with emerald first. I love emerald service, but the counter guy is very grumpy. He must own the place (or be a relative). He should hire someone to be to deal with clients, as people definitely not his strength. If you book all the details on line with emerald, it limits him and makes him toe the line. You have to watch the extra charges and leave nothing to chance. Suggest to really review and document the car prior to pickup (take lots of photos/close ups). Make sure it’s documented. Again, they are the only franchise for Emerald/National on the north end of Guelph.

Just a heads up this place is a franchise and not actually part of the National chain. They will not honour any discounts, customer service support from head office, or 3rd party offers. If you want the quality and reliability of a large company chain, find a different National (or a different rental company) this one definitely does not offer friendliness, support or service and will not try to match promos of their namesake. After speaking to National head office they informed me the actual name of this business isn't even 'National', it's '162450 Ontario Inc'. I'd recommend you go somewhere else. I really wish I'd checked the rating here first, I can say I absolutely agree with all the 1 star ratings.

I would give this place zero stars if I could, terrible customer service. I called to enquire about renting a car, I was asked what I needed and for how long and when I said it was only for one day all the sudden I was told there was nothing available other than a pick up truck (their most expensive rental). My father has tried to rent from here before too and was told that they don’t rent for single days on the weekend when they can rent it for the whole weekend. Terrible service, I’ll never rent from here and would never recommend anyone too!

It was the worst!! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. The van we were given had not been thoroughly cleaned prior to us receiving it. Someone's dental cleaning floss and crumbs were on the floor beside the driver's seat. We were told at the time we picked up the van that the second driver would be free but when we returned the van we were charged $65 and they refused to honour ANY of the discounts we had been promised in writing at the time of booking online with National. Their reason for this is that they actually aren't National but a private numbered company so they do not honour the discounts that National offer. I will wholeheartedly let everyone I know not to deal with this company.

Service was fine. Very disappointed to be charged an extra $40 at check out. $5 per day for a TDM fee?? Best explanation I got was it was in case I hit a pole and I decided to sue them. I declined insurance at the time of pick up. Never explained this would be charge. Would not go with National again due to this. Waiting to hear back from customer service as I called their Head Office in the U.S.
