Service is good and the van was clean but couldn't get the advertised special rate because I didn't book the van online one day ahead of time!

Had to change my reservation date and they changed it no problem! Easy to deal with and great communication! They called me to confirm that they checked in the car after I dropped it off during their after hours. Overall great experience!

If I could put 0 stars I would ! It used to be the best rental place in Waterloo and now it's the worst. I spend half an hour on the bus to get there and they did not accept to rent me a car. Why ? Because I have a french driving license. So not only are they discriminating people, but they do not even know their job. Indeed, my driving license was perfectly in order since it's valid for 2 months after entering Canada and I have been here for one month only. Of course, they did not even asked me if I wanted a ride home, even if the agency was empty at that time and that the two agents were just looking at their computer. AVOID AVOID AVOID this place !

I have rented cars, trucks, and vans from this outlet over the past ten years. I was a loyal customer, but after the last rental experience I will never rent from Discount again. I rented a pick-up truck to move my son's stuff from an apartment in Toronto to his new home in Montreal. First, when I arrived to pick up my rental at 9:30 am, it was not ready. I waited nearly an hour while the truck was cleaned, and it really needed to be cleaned. The prior renter had covered the vehicle in mud, inside and out. It was amazing to me that the staff had not cleaned this vehicle prior to my arrival. It was supposed to be ready at 8:30 am, when they opened that day. To my surprise, the truck they gave me had a diesel engine; this didn't bother me until I discovered halfway in my drive back from Montreal that diesel engines require a diesel emission fluid (DEF) from time to time, and my rental required this fluid during my journey. I called the toll-free Discount service number, and was assured that this cost would be covered, but it did take some time and effort by me to deal with the problem. The DEF levels should've been checked before I picked up my rental, but obviously no one thought to do so. Finally, weeks after my rental, I see on my credit card bill that I've been charged $174 extra for going over the 300 km/day limit on pick-up trucks. This extra fee is not clear in either my online or printed rental contract, in fact this fee is all the more frustrating due to a line in the contract that clearly sates I have a "maximum of 3000 kms for the agreement". I am angry about this extra fee for a few reasons: first, I have rented pick-up trucks from Discount previously and travelled similar distances with no extra charge; second, I would've appreciated some warning about the extra fees. While I was waiting for my rental vehicle to be cleaned, I mentioned to both my Discount rental representative and the manager of this outlet that I was pressed for time because I was moving stuff to Montreal; both had seen my contract, and I really wish that one of them could've advised me on paying the $10/day extra kilometre fee, knowing that my trip with the truck was going to take me over the 300 km/day limit. Instead, the manager mentioned this option to me, too late, when I called to complain about this extra expense on my credit card bill. All this to say, I wish they had provided me with good service, which in my mind includes good advice on the product you are purchasing, but you cannot expect this from Discount, it would seem, and certainly not from this location. Be warned, and take your business elsewhere.

used to be a great place. However, my recent experiences with them were terrible. very bad customer service. It's also not guaranteed that you'll be given a car though you already have reserved a car and got a confirmation email. Lastly, some of the guys working there are not polite to their costumers! I had a reservation and once I went to the branch, I was told that my reservation has been cancelled. They were claiming that I have hung up the confirmation call, while I did not do that. All my plans for that day got screwed up and I only received an apology and a ride back to my home!
