Great experience - my rental was very nice and clean. The young college kid who helped me was nice. Perfect. Thank you very much!

This is my experience and may not be reflective of your own but understand who you are dealing with when you rent from Budget of Troy, MI: I reserve a 12ft moving truck 5 days in advance for a great deal through Costco. I needed something smaller but they don't offer it, no big deal. Pickup was for 2:00pm and as the morning approached I call before noon asking if the truck is available they tell me not yet and to keep checking in. I call back every hour inquiring about it and am told that it should be in any hour. 4:00pm rolls around and Awad (owner) finally tells me to come in. When I get there he explains that only 16ft trucks are available. It's a quarter bigger than and consumes more gas than the requested truck but no big deal, I'll make do. I pick the truck around 6pm and the check engine light is on. No big deal, I'm sure it won't cause any major problems. I load and begin driving the truck only to get pulled over because the truck has no plates. Well, ok. So I bring the truck back home and bring it in the next morning only to be offered another 16ft truck at which point I do not want to deal with any more of a hassle. I am then accused by the owner of losing the plate on my behalf and that I should be charged for my mileage. He claims to have called corporate and cant return it, that is until I wait a couple hours and threaten a charge back. He also offered me a passenger van at 3x the rate. Overall the customer service was horrid and if you have a bad experience then keep pushing to get what you feel is fair because he will try anything to keep you in a broken car. I'm now running late to a full time move that was supposed to be painless.

Be careful with this location. Poor customer service. They lied and told me i could get unlimited miles, only to tell me at drop off that i had to be charged extra for miles, despite what the manager had told me initially! Then they told me i had to call their 1800 number because they cant help me with my problem. They dont even check the cars before giving the keys. I was given a slip stating there were no scratches/damages on the vehicle and to pick up the car from the back. As soon as i get to the car, i noticed 3 large scratches. One on the hood, and two on the passenger side. I go back inside to tell them the car was scratched and they took the slip and indicated on it where i said the scratches were, then gave me back the slip , all without taking a trip outside to inspect the car themselves!!!! It was NOT even busy, one guy on his cell phone and the other watching tv in the office, so why couldnt they just inspect their car, instead of having me do the work for them? Highly unprofessional and bad service. Will not be returning !

Will suggest not to sign any paperwork without inspecting car, guy had quarter tank of gas less, charged me for premium car and gave me same that I reserved, didn't come out and argued.. won't suggest

Called the day before my Saturday pick up to inquire about any deposit for the vehicle I selected. The representative told me the deposit was $100 and since I paid with a debit card online to bring that card in or another card to use for the deposit. I arrive on Saturday and wait in line behind a man who made a reservation for a moving truck only to get there and they didn’t have his truck. I watched as the man behind the counter called four different locations looking for a truck before securing one. The man leaves and drives to Birmingham for his truck. It’s now my turn. I walk up and begin to get serviced. He asked for my name and cannot locate my reservation. I go out and grab my phone to provide the reservation number. He asked for my license and credit card. I hand him my debit card (the card I used to make pay for the reservation) and he tells me that if I use a debit card, that they will have to run a credit check. I ask him why, and he tells me that the web site says that. Which is does not. Not anywhere. I provided another card and proceeded with the process. He then tells me that they deposit was $200. I informed him that the person I spoke with yesterday stated that it was $100. He says. Oh. Okay. $100 then. “Is it $200 or $100 I asked him. He tells me it depends on the credit card you use. He then tells me that he’s not there to argue with you, when all I wanted was factual information. After it was all said and done, the deposit was $109. He hands me a pink piece of paper that says “ no damage” on it and asked me to sign it. Then gives me the contract to sign and initial without even seeing the car. Gives me one key. That has tape on it. He says he upgraded me to small SUV because they are out of the full size I reserved. He says, “ it has the same engine and the same gas mileage. Which was another faulsity. I got horrible gas mileage on this car and spent twice the amount in gas than I expected for the weekend. He then tells me the car is on the side or the back of the building. I walk around the building and into he back of the store and located the vehicle. The vehicle reeked of cigarette smoke and was not clean. The car has 30,000 miles and drive like a not so brand new car. Overall. The experience was horrible. I normally rent with enterprise and decided on Budget because of the selection of vehicles and price. I would rather pay more for better customer experience and cleaner, more dependent vehicles.
