The company canceled our booking, which we made a month in advance, without ever letting us know it has been cancelled. So we arrived at our destination to pick up the car only to find out they had no cars left for us and instead had to pick a vehicle that was $400 more than my original booking price. the only reason this company didn't get one star is that the on-site staff redeemed the company with the great way they were willing to work with us during this horrible inconvenience. Edit: after contacting the company upon our return from our vacation, the company agreed that we deserved a rebate for our experience. As such they honored the original agreement we had made. My opinion of this company has greatly improved because of this. still disappointed we had problems, but really happy the company made it up to us.

One of the worst renting experience. I will never rent from this company again. Rented a car from their Montreal airport branch yesterday. I asked for an Economy/Compact, and was given a minivan (Toyota Sienna 2016. It wasn't clean interior, dust here and there. But I had an appointment in Ottawa urgently so I took it and go). The booking was for 1 day only, and my online booking said it would come to 31$ something. They pre-charged me for 300$ (?????). The other companies only charged me the initial amount (which would be 31$ in this case). Why do it this way? Also when I went to drop it off, there was nobody working in the parking garage. I was asked to leave the key in the deposit box. I opened the deposit box and they have this sign on it says "You are still responsible for the car after dropping the key". I mean what the hell is this? Why don't you hire more personnel to work there when people drop their rental car? And here's the funnier thing, I left the car last night. Their office opens at 7AM. Now is almost 2PM, and my rental profile is still open. I DON'T KNOW if somebody else processed my return, I don't see the new/correct charge on my credit card, I don't know if somebody else took the same car and somehow I'm still considered as haven't returned it on time. This is a very bad business model and practice. I will never rent from them again, anywhere. Choosing 1 star because there's no 0 star. I would go for -100 stars.

STAY AWAY FROM HERE! FRAUD!!! i booked a minivan through MapQuest for the Dollar Rent-A-Car @ YUL Airport in Montreal. I was given a confirmation for 3 days rental and total charges of $187.07. When my brother picked the van up, as he was the driver, he was informed by the person at the counter that he was required to choose one of the insurance packages. My brother is the owner of a wrecker service and a diesel repair service, so he has tons of coverage for any vehicle he will be driving, and he explained this to the sales clerk. The sales clerk said that the insurance purchase is mandatory in Canada. My brother, thinking he was told the truth by the sales clerk, chose the cheapest insurance available, which made the total charges $308, which brought the total to $113 more that our confirmation total. When my brother pick me up and told me about the extra charges I immediately began calling the main Dollar Rent-A-Car number and talking to several different people there, and we were assured that you are never required to purchase the insurance in Canada with Dollar Rent-A-Car. This was total FRAUD on the part of the Dollar Rent-A-Car connected with the YUL Airport in Montreal. When we called the store where the vehicle was picked up from, the manager denied that anyone would have told him the insurance was required. My brother's wife was with him and heard the sales clerk. The manager was very rude and said the only way the contract could be changed was for us to bring the vehicle back and he would write up a new one. Since we were several miles and an hour away we asked if he could fax the rental agreement to the Hotel Brossard for my brother to sign and he refused. So, we had to choose to either spend another couple of hours of our vacation going back to the rental office or just lose the $113, which we opted to do, as I had already spent an hour on the phone attempting to get it straightened out. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RENTAL AGENCY!!! They are frauding vacationers who don't know the laws of Canada and their rights!
