Didn't take care of the problem, and didn't seem to know that much about the particular bug we were having problems with. We hired them because they were the most inexpensive exterminators we could find, and that was a mistake. They were very friendly and inexpensive compared to everyone else, but we struggled with the same problem for nearly 2 years before finally going with Orkin. Orkin was better educated about exterminating, gave us more accurate information, and took care of the problem efficiently.
UPDATE: Since the owner made up a completely fabricated response SIX YEARS LATER, I'm guessing they don't even remember us at this point. If they did, they would remember that the apartment already had the bugs when we moved in. We didn't discover them until after moving in and signing the lease, and thought naively that we could get rid of them easily. We are not dirty, slovenly people, and bed bugs do not only occur in households like that. They don't care about messes. We never stayed in hotels. We never went anywhere else that had bugs, and the idea that these guys we saw for a total of maybe 30 minutes would even know that about us, is completely outrageous.
Also, I should add that after writing this original review, we discovered that Orkin didn't solve the problem. Bed bugs need to be treated frequently, about every 3 weeks for up to 18 months. Not a SINGLE exterminator offered that many return treatments. Orkin did come back a second time, included in their price, but that's it. The problem was not resolved until we went to Do It Yourself Pest Control online, and ordered a kit. We applied the treatments every 3 weeks exactly for 18 months. Throughout this process, we learned that exterminators actually know very little about bed bugs. They hibernate in winter, but continue to reproduce. They can live up to 18 months without a food source in such a hibernation! Our bedrooms weren't heated, so were quite cold. Our treatment was in the fall. We thought it worked. By spring we realized we were very mistaken, and once the exterminators had torn the rooms apart for treatments, they spread. The treatments acted more as deterrents. They learned to avoid them, began moving to places that weren't treated, like floor boards, dresser drawers.
DIY Pest Control is the way to go for these! The kit comes with a kill on contact spray; very toxic, a spray that lasts 3 weeks, for the box springs, and along the molding, and then a powder to put under the mattresses and in the carpet that dries out their exterior and kills them slowly. Treating every 3 weeks for 18 months insures that you are continuing to kill them off as they reproduce AND thereby slowing the reproduction. Also, wash and dry what you can on high heat. Things that can't be washed, place in garbage bags. Some things we didn't need immediately, but didn't want to trash I wrapped in several airtight garbage bags and suffocated the suckers for 2 years in storage, just to be safe, though I never actually found bugs there. We dumped thousands of dollars worth of furniture, clothing, and toys as well as dropping thousands of dollars on exterminators only to end up doing it ourselves for $60.
