Here’s my review, Around the May long weekend this year I contacted Stuckey’s to build a top and travel cover for my boat. I was impressed that they came to my house to quote the job, I was out of the province at the time and was facing a tight timeline to have this finished. The quote came in at $2500 for the top and $1000 for the travel cover which is on par with other quotes I has received. I highly stressed more than once that it had to be done by a certain date for an upcoming trip I was taking. I was told that it may cost more depending on time and materials, which is fine, I understand how quotes work. I was told to drop it off the 19th of June. 2 days before the drop off date I called to make sure and I was told it’ll be a couple more weeks, I wasn’t impressed, but agreed. I understand the difficulties with staffing in GP and projects never go as planned. Unfortunately the delays didn’t stop there. They eventually started on it the week of the 9th of July and was promised to receive it the following Monday the 16th. Of course it was not ready even though it was apparently a priority. The following afternoon on the 17 on my way to pick it up after being promised again that it would be ready the manager called me, which was the first call I had received from them during this whole escapade in which I had to call and chase them the whole time, and was told again it wasn’t ready, but the upholsterer was going to stay late and try to finish it. Instead of turning around I went there to check on it. I’m no upholsterer, but I could immediately tell that he wouldn’t get it done that day and maybe not the next. I personally stayed working on my own boat until almost ten o’clock to get it finished. Finally the owner became involved and the final bill was over $5000, that being said they did knock some money off the bill, but it wasn’t even close to the quote. Since they were late I was forced to take another 2 days off work to complete what I needed to have done as I was just a few days from my trip, the top was made to the different dimensions than I specified costing me a whole day of work and more money modifying my boat to accommodate their mistakes. Not once was I ever contacted about when to bring it in, I had to call constantly as I was never contacted to tell me that they were having difficulties and that the price was going to be almost $2000 more than quoted. I personally will never step foot in that shop again.
