Bought a piece of furniture, wish l never had...horrible experience. Bad, rude customer service after sale done, and poorly built furniture...

We purchased a full bedroom set for my daughter (13) at Modern Home Furnishing in August 2017. Rick was very patient with us as we went back and forth over what exactly we wanted, worked with us on price and helped figure out colour and design. We must have been back 4 or 5 times before we settled on what we wanted. The experience was positive. Helpful, and no pressure. I found dealing with Rick straight forward, and he delivered on his promises. In fact, I'd say he exceeded them as we received the furniture earlier than expected. The delivery service had a few hiccups (forgot the bed slats and then when they returned had managed to forget it again!) but if truth be told, they turned around the whole order in less than 2 weeks and I don't think it's enough to knock a star off for. The delivery guys were friendly and accommodating but perhaps should start checking the truck before they go out on deliveries...! If the order had taken 4-6 weeks it would have been annoying, but we were expecting 3-4 and received everything in less than 2 so it would be churlish to complain about it. In the end the most important thing is that the furniture is of a decent quality and our daughter loves her new bedroom set. For the record, we ordered the Polo series in black with wooden handles: 9 drawer dresser, book case, bed, desk and bed side table and paid just over $2000 for the whole set. For the price, I think you'll struggle to find better quality anywhere else. We looked!

Terrible. Rick promised the moon. Furniture should have been painted black as signed off by boss in Surrey. It was a lie, all the furniture came as dark brown. I do not want dark brown. Assembly of the top and bottom of the bookshelves was very shoddy. They did not know how to do it. The stationary shelf is too high. It is 19 inches to the stationary shelf then, 9 inches for the rest. If I were to use all the shelves they would be 6 inches or less apart. I have added two shelves which look silly as they are about 9 inches apart. I may have to remove a shelf but what is a bookcase for if not to have as many shelves as possible about 12 inches apart. So you can visualize better the bottom part of the units are drawers while the top part are suppose to be bookshelves. The units are 90 inches high. Can't they measure at that factory ? Under the stationary shelves are gouges, obviously this wood was originally meant to be used for something else and they turned them over and used them for my unit. The interior painting of the inside of the shelving units is not smooth. I heard Rick tell people who were looking around that they used 13 layers. What a joke. While I was taking pictures of these problems the delivery people quietly left. I'm sure they told their boss but I did not get a call. They made sure to tell me that if they unpacked it was my acceptance of the furniture. No wonder they left so quietly. It was late in the day and I face north so the colour was not immediately apparent. I expected a phone call from Rick, the person who made all the promises. But since they have over $4,000.00 of my money they obviously wanted to keep it. I knew contacting them would amount to nothing so keep your eyes on the internet as I will post all the pictures as well as my conversations with Rick ( all the conversation "Rick" word by word). Also check out Yelp as I will also blog there. LP

Getting these guys to follow through with their delivery promises is like pulling teeth. Selection and quality of products is good but overall experience, if relying on them for delivery, is pretty poor.
