I did read the other reviews and there is a security door so yes it is locked...so that takes care of one Ridiculous review..Second it is a Antique Store that specializes in actual antiques and he does recommend other dealers that sell what he does not...MORE SO THEN NOT PEOPLE (CUSTOMERS ARE VERY RUDE AND HAVE NO RESPECT)......so I think people need to look at there own actions. The store is a Winnipeg Icon and it has world class antiques of all kinds and very high quality. The owner is very knowledgeable and if you take the time to get to know him is very helpful, polished and informative. I have loved this store from my youth till now and have enjoyed decades of looking at and buying and selling numerous treasures. I am very picky and quality is what he carries. Also very honest because if he was not he would do what most people do and get a company to create fake positive reviews or get friends and family to do so and he has not. Disappointed others have not taken the time to write a review and I did just because I noticed the review online and do not spend time on the net other than for business purposes. Silver, Jewelry, porcelain, Russian Antiques, Inuit, Ivory, Clocks, Tables, paintings, statues and many many other items!!!

Owner is insane and very hostile to customers or potential customers. No idea how he has stayed in business this long. The store is only open half the week so when I was by it and it was actually open I thought I would check it out. I’m in a wheelchair and there are stairs, but most shops in the area have a ramp hidden somewhere around the back of the store so I called the shop sitting just outside it to ask if there was an accessible entrance.. his reply was “why don’t you just come in instead of calling me if you are outside the shop?” I responded with “I’m in a wheelchair and those don’t exactly do well on stairs. I don’t know if you are aware but probably want to get that fixed soon since by the end of the year all shops are required to be accessible or their business license will be suspended” his reply “it’s too expensive to make it accessible- at least $20,000. I will close my business before I will make it accessible” which is utter bull. It doesn’t cost remotely that price to add a ramp...it would be under $3009. Go to Selim’s Antiques instead.

My husband has been on the hunt for old radios around the City so I googled some places he might have luck. He was also looking to get something appraised. I sent him to Abbey and he was treated terribly! The hours said it was open from 12-5pm yet the door was locked. Then the door opened and the owner came out and started yelling at him that he couldn't bring his item inside and said it was worthless without even looking at it. My husband asked if he had any old radios and he was again yelled at that radios aren't antiques and then had the door slammed in his face. I'm not sure if he always treats his customers like this but I won't be sending anyone back there.
