I was told by the dispatcher that my cab may take “a few minutes”. 43 minutes, and two phone calls later, my guy finally arrived. I was still expected to pay for my cab fare in full, despite the fact that I was now a half hour late for work, which deducted my pay, through no fault of my own, because the cab company dropped the ball. This alone would be enough to sour my taste of Clarenville Cabs, but it gets worse. My cab driver is very rude. After I tell him where I’m headed, he never speaks a single word to me again. No general chit chat, no apology for being extremely late, nothing. When we arrived at my destination, I decided to still tip the man, just out of common courtesy, even though he definitely didn’t deserve it. I’m standing outside the cab when I hand him the money, and he doesn’t say “thank you”, or “have a nice day” or anything like that. In fact, he doesn’t say anything at all. He doesn’t even look at me, or acknowledge my existence in any way. He just takes the money and puts it in his bag. I begrudgingly say “thanks...have a good one”, and he just ignores me and starts to roll up his window. This was truly some of the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. Never again. So I’ll be sticking with Benoit’s Cabs from now on, and I urge anybody who reads this review to do the same. They have a much better reputation than Clarenville Cabs anyway, and I’ve been told that their fares are cheaper. Company’s like Clarenville Cabs are the sole reason why app-based services like Uber and Lyft exist and are taking over the market, while the taxi industry is rapidly failing.
