Late Sept 2017 - Showed up 45 mins late, but given the amount of time they spent on our house, I can understand. They spent well over 3 hours because the house we just bought was built 17 yrs ago and ducts were never cleaned. And they did a good job and were thorough in cleaning out the ducts.
I did take issue with the fact that some of the construction dust (yes, was not kidding when I say that ducts were never cleaned after home built), ended up in our basement after being blown towards the main furnance and to the central vacuum line. Nevertheless, Advanced Air responded and dealt with the issue in a manner acceptable to us.
We have used Advanced Air before (last house) and while they may not be the least expensive company in town, we truly believe in "you get what you pay for".
Would give 5 stars, except for the debris that ended up on our stuff in the basement. That has nothing to do with the cleanliness of ducts however, which look night and day better than when we moved in.
EDIT - Nov 20 2017 - Well, I was running a wire through my plenum to from the 2nd floor master bedroom and discovered that the cold air return duct was covered in a layer of drywall dust - this in the plenum in floor of the 2nd floor that ran between the joists, and there were bits of wire and wood. This I discovered when 1) I pulled out the fishing wire and it came out full of white dust; and 2) when I borrowed a friends inspection camera (those thingys with the 3 foot flexible cable and camera and light at the end) and saw the inside of the cavity. Then, as I ran the wire to the basement, I removed some of the tin that is placed between joists to run the cold air between them, and found lots of other debris. (at least a good handful of dust, bits of tile mortar or grout, and shavings of wood tucked into a corner. While the tech showed me a before and after pic, and even a video of ducts on a small GoPro following the cleaning, and it seemed like the ducts were clean, obviously that small video sample did not reveal the whole truth. Not sure if their vacuum truck is just not strong enough to truly "suck" all the debris out, which explains they need to blow at one end while the vacuum sucks at the other. I suspect it is enough to suck air and dust that is airborne, but not solid debris.
I must also state that since then, we seem to have constant dust in our home, on all our furniture and floors. I read in some forum somewhere some claims that getting your ducts cleaned actually makes things worse, and stirs up and loosens dust that would otherwise remain undisturbed through regular use of HVAC. I would presume this not to be the case if all dust and debris was actually removed. However, as in my case, if it is not, then I can certainly understand the assertion, and frankly, I am inclined to believe it. I just hope this dust subsides soon.
In all fairness to Advanced, they refunded for the work after the initial issue of getting stuff dirty in the basement, so there isn't anything further I could ask of them at this point. However, I caution others to think closely about the work they get done, and whether getting your ducts cleaned after you have moved in is actually worth it if you have no flow, smell, or other obvious issues. We got ours cleaned because we just thought it was the prudent thing to do after purchasing a previously owned home. If you are buying a new house, then get the ducts cleaned of all the construction dust before your closing so this issue is addressed long before you move in. Just my thoughts.
