Our mother is now living in this place and we are very happy with the staff and programming. I was a little concerned with the negative reviews when we first considered this location, but since our mother left the hospital, she has continued to recover thanks to the stimulating environment. She enjoys the outings and the exercise programs, and relates well to the staff, all of whom know her by name. I talked to a family member of another resident, who had some familiarity with other nursing homes, and she regarded this one as a better option even though it was a distance for them to travel. We thought it would be a sad day when we needed to put our mother into extended care but she is very content where she is.

My sister in law and dear friend has MS which has forced her to stay in long term care even though she is o my 60. I visit her every Sunday and sometimes during the week. I have always found the care to be exceptional. My sister-in-law has lived at different care facilities in Edmonton and I won’t even begin to tell you the frightful things I have witnessed. The Youville was a breath of fresh air. It is really clean and I can see that the caregivers there care about the residents well being. I do think it’s better suited for elderly residents at as most of them seem to be over 80. Im not sure where these bad reviews came from but I just had to say that some of public care long term facilities in the Edmonton are really lacking in basic care. I think private companies overall do a better job because they have to compete with each other. But the Youville home does a great job with what they are doing.

Reviews absolutely say it all...................I am so thankful that our mother's stay was short at Youville as if she stayed any longer, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be with us today. This place is horrible!!! Management really needs to be more involved to see what’s really going on in this place. I am so glad that we removed our mother from Youville and place her in a more compassionate, well organized, professional, clean, Long Term Care site. I would not recommend Youville to anyone.

Reviews says it all! Staff put the seniors disabilities as their excuse for not doing there jobs. Managers should take care of this manner. My only day off is saturday so i try to spend with my mom as much as i can. I got there at around 1 pm. Talked, cleaned her up because she was dirty and smells (who knows how long) at around 5:30 pm she was hungry so i ask one of the staff if there was snack or dinner was ready for her, she said she didnt see any. She said shes going to ask another staff about her food. Long story short, apparently someone came to room and offer my mom food or if she wanted to eat and my mom said no apparently. I told her i was with her the time talking and watching tv nobody even came or check on her the whole time. It's very frustrating. Sometimes they any show up when the seniors have visitors to show them that they are there and actually cares. The place is nice and clean but very bad caregiving. I dont usually do reviews to any place i go to but this bad for this seniors.

My Mother is in Youville and seems to be getting less than attentive care. She can barely lift a teacup yet has fallen out of bed twice breaking her hip and now her ankle. Not to mention all the other falls in their care, without breaking bones. I've taken pictures of infected bed sores on my mom's ankle that are 3/4" wide and essentially a hole! How can this happen, how long a period is she neglected?! They won't return my calls or letter to explain and I don't know where to turn to help my Mother. I'm heartbroken that I can't get help for her.
