My mother moved into Chartwell Hawthorne almost a year ago and she couldn't be happier. She was widowed after 67 years of marriage and had lived alone in her huge house for 4 1/2 years. Her health was declining, her nutrition was poor and she had little socialization. She knew she had to make a change, but it was a difficult decision and created a lot of anxiety. The management, staff and residents welcomed her with open arms - actually they welcomed our whole family with open arms! The meals are creative and nutritious, served in a beautiful dining room. The common area is welcoming and comfortable. The grounds are well kept and safe for walking. I can't say enough about the recreation and activity opportunities. There is always a morning exercise class and countless games, brain teasers, crafts and community cooking. My mom often describes her current living situation as "living on a cruise ship". All of the staff are to be commended on creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable, caring and creative home for anyone needing supportive living. We are deeply grateful to all of them for looking after my mom so well.

My Dad went through a few retirement residences he didnt like before he finally settled on this one. Great management, friendly atmosphere, and good food at mealtimes. The common areas are always perfect and clean. I hope I will have as nice a place to live when its my time to relax in retirement.

Had an amazing and eye opening encounter with one of their retirement living consultants. She had us tour the residence and offered various living/care options for my grandmother. Competence and compassion is something to look for when working in this field and they definitely have both! I highly suggest them for your elderly relatives and loved ones.

The staff who work at this place, do not take responsibility for themselves. They can be bias towards certain people. The manager does not help at all. Gives excuses for her and there behaviour. I feel it is an awful place expensive. The manager has little to no people skills. I feel that for her position she would have the skills to handle people but she doesn't. Awful place. Neglectful and no consideration for the elderly it is only a money making business not a caring one at all
