My mother moved into Chartwell Hawthorne almost a year ago and she couldn't be happier. She was widowed after 67 years of marriage and had lived alone in her huge house for 4 1/2 years. Her health was declining, her nutrition was poor and she had little socialization. She knew she had to make a change, but it was a difficult decision and created a lot of anxiety.
The management, staff and residents welcomed her with open arms - actually they welcomed our whole family with open arms! The meals are creative and nutritious, served in a beautiful dining room. The common area is welcoming and comfortable. The grounds are well kept and safe for walking.
I can't say enough about the recreation and activity opportunities. There is always a morning exercise class and countless games, brain teasers, crafts and community cooking. My mom often describes her current living situation as "living on a cruise ship".
All of the staff are to be commended on creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable, caring and creative home for anyone needing supportive living.
We are deeply grateful to all of them for looking after my mom so well.
