This was my third year here and boy was it the last one. I loved working here but there was too much guilt sitting in my heart for me to keep on. So much negligence and just inadequate services. There is always an annual increase in rent and such, but never have I ever seen a change in the services. This being said, I have to commend the PCAs for being so patient and hardworking and amazing. Residents always complained about everything and all this fell on deaf ears. When I suggested communicating this to management, they would say to me "why even bother, they won't do anything." Management needs to take a step back and listen. Just listen to what is going on in the building. You are the leaders that we are looking up to and so guide, support, deal with issues as they come to you! Listen because it is different when you are in the offices and away from the crowd. I am not saying this to bash the building but there is something somewhere really wrong that needs to be fixed. I have never seen staff quit as much as they have over this year. I have been to so many residential homes but I have never been disappointed like this one!

Overall we are very happy with the care my mom receives. The food is not good however, that would be the biggest complaint. Staff are wonderful and I am comfortable with the care. Food needs improved big time. Can't say enough about all the staff here, they truly care about the residents

We had my father on the waiting list for a subsidized memory care room in Calgary. When one became available at Eau Claire Retirement Residence in July 2017, we felt that we had to take it to get him in the system so we could move him to our preferred facility when that became available. We were very sad about having to put him in this facility, the memory care floor is so cramped and lacking in amenities. The only common room is the dining room, so the residents sit around all day in a row in the widening of the hall by the elevator lobby. To make matters worse, two weeks after moving him into the facility, they closed the dining room for six weeks for renovations and everyone had to eat in the hall. Prior to moving him in at least three of our family members asked the sales lady, Monica, why the ceiling tiles were removed down the hallway and we all got the same answer, "just doing some maintenance". Once we found out about the dining room renovations, we realized that she didn't tell us so she could make the sale. Clearly the ceiling tiles were removed to allow some prep work for the upcoming renovations; had we known we wouldn't have moved him in (and that is why she didn't tell us). We absolutely would not recommend this facility for memory care residents.

Nursing care here is awesome. Residents are cared for according to their own needs making it more personalized. Staff is good and does an awesome job. The quality of food that the seniors eat is of poor standards. Substantial consideration must be invested in the food that is served here. Diet needs to follow the Canadian Food Guide to cater to seniors dealing with different health concerns and different medications. A diversified meal choice for all meals has to be put out for the seniors to offer more choice and avoid redundancy of food for seniors looking for change. As this is home to the seniors, their opinions and complaints has to be acted upon immediately for their comfort and well-being given that they are tenants here. Other than the mentioned concerns , this place is awesome and very welcoming.

With the change from assisted living to a care centre, the quality of Eau Claire has deteriorated tremendously in the past couple of years. Food is processed and frequently inedible, with zero seasonal fruit. Care staff are lovely. Management, however, simply sees the bottom line. Residents often can't speak for themselves, and family members, when they offer suggestions, are treated as meddlers.
