This has probably been the worst experience I have ever had with a long term care facility. They do not have a chef on staff. Maybe a cook for all their processed food. My mom had dietary restrictions and they couldn't even feed her. We had to bring in food. The nurses and care staff don't care at all. She's fallen so many times, and with her most serious fall, no one even called. I showed up hours later to visit and she still had blood in her hair, and all over her clothes. The staff's lack of communication is seriously in need. None of them communicate with other departments and they don't communicate with the family. They all just pass the buck saying it's not their fault and not their problem. The nurses don't respond to alarms for at least 10 minutes; which is unacceptable with people who are a fall risk. They describe themselves as a Centre that caters to the residents, but they just don't care. No one knows anything. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Oh and you want to visit a resident? It's 5 dollars a day, during the day the parkade is always full and you can't find parking. Please don't put your loved one here. I implore you not to. It's a complete disgrace.

My mother was at Age care up until her death last year. She was 98. It appears that far too many of the staff there were underqualified for the tasks they had to perform. Most workers were foreign contract workers from the Philippines. Mom complained about slow or no response when she'd summon a nurse often when experiencing alarming symptoms such as chest pain or breathing problems. On one occasion she even fell from her bed. Staff would not call an ambulance for her. She had to use her cell phone to call them and when they arrived the door was locked and paramedics could not get in. She found the food there extremely unappetizing and extremely cheap foods. I suspect that the kitchen staff weren't always the best qualified chefs. That nursing home is not above compromising patient safety and comfort for the sake of cost control and enhanced profitability. So much for privatized nursing homes.

I made the decision to move my mother to Age Care Glenmore 14 months ago from out of province. It was a tough decision but a good one. Mom passed away recently but I am blessed our family was able to spend time with her as well as the exceptional and compassionate care she received from the entire staff at Glenmore. From the head nurse for the wing to all the people who assisted her in her time of need. From the people who brought her drinks and cookies at night to the people who made her smile and sang to her......thank you from the bottom of my heart

Our family is very fortunate that our mother was able to move into Age Care Glenmore. She enjoys attentive care, tasty meals, and as many activities as she can attend. The residents enjoy outings and a good amount of live entertainment as well as engaging occupational therapy with Charmaine and Simon. Mom has her hair shampooed and set weekly in the salon, as was her routine when she lived at home. Mom has made new friends through programs such as knitting club, bingo, and trivia to name a few. There is even a happy hour! All the staff has made the effort to get to know mom and greet her by name as she makes her way through the halls. The physio department is diligent in encouraging mom to walk and maintain some mobility. As mom is at risk of falling, my greatest appreciation is that she is in a safe environment. It is never an easy adjustment to leave your home for facility living. Mom has adjusted well and happily tells me, when I visit, everything she has done.

Do your homework, talk to families. Horrible place, their "care plan" just a fraud-no care, no plan. Everything old and heartless approach to human life. Tree years of horror, do not fall for this!!!
