I called Vanguard Director for an update re: an investigation I had requested into lies told by senior staff to that director. Lies that supported my resident Aunt's agent with Power of Attorney. I suspect Senior staff believed they were protecting my Aunt in this effort, possibly victim's of agent's lies. Entrusted position with authority over a vulnerable population, good intentions aside. The director advised I take this matter up with the agent. The agent that enlisted Senior staff in an effort to protect her lies to her family. This is concerning. The agent is currently being served with Court Documents requiring her attendance in front of a Judge compelling her to provide an accounting. She refused a request by an interested party. Her obligation in her position as Power of Attorney.

**WARNING** DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! While some staff (Maybe 5) are caring and considerate, the rest are rude, aggressive, and incompetent. There is too much to fit into this box, but honestly steer clear from bringing your loved one to this place. They have treated my mother like absolute garbage her entire time here! Can't wait to find somewhere that will treat her with respect. From top to bottom the lack of professionalism, bedside manner, and the constant changing "Rules", gaslighting and saying it's a "miscommunication"?! it's outstanding. I really didn't think it was possible to have this bad of a facility that claims to "care" for your loved ones. My mom was sent home from the hospital with specific instructions that were to be followed by staff and there was a blatant disregard for these instructions and their negligence sent my mother back to the hospital! I've witnessed them let residence stay screaming in pain from falls, mess up medications, steal, and also worth mentioning, the food is horrible: from chunks of plastic in the food to serving molded expired food. Horrible place, stay away!

Just finished moving our mother into a suite at Vanguard. The staff was amazing and so helpful and caring!

My mom's very first day, she was required to be in isolation due to COVID of course but no one brought my mother the evening snack. So I left the room to ask the staff why they forgot about her and I even thought that maybe my mom was required to go get her own snack. Well an aid called for the nurse on duty and she rushed over to the dining area and started to dictate the rules as loud and with as much authority as she could as I was walking back to my room with my poor mother. We were stunned and that nurse returned two more times to knock on the door and dictate the RULES over and over again, even chastising me for being on the phone while she was yelling at me. I was stunned at the audacity. We both were and we sat silent and in fear that we've made a big mistake moving mom in to Shepherds Care Vangard. No place is kind to seniors. It's all money!!

My mom has lived on the first floor dementia unit for two and a half years. In that time, the recreation department, support staff and especially the care staff have treated my mom with great dignity and love. My mom loves her home and we are so thankful that she feels comfortable and cared for here. This is a good safe place and we feel that we can trust these kind caregivers to give our mom the attention she needs at this challenging time in her life.
