I have worked at Westsyde Care Residence for the last fourteen years and have enjoy working with the residents one on one on daily basis. Getting to know them and their families over the years. What makes this residence unique is that very home like setting. We do all our own home cooking, we have baking with the residents. We go out to bowling, bingo, movies, shopping which are just few things. In addition we do things at the home such as crafts, music therapy and bingo. I am part of an amazing dedicated team of coworkers and managers.

I have worked for Westsyde Care for 6 years and I Love my job! Awesome Managers and Excellent Co Workers We all work together as a team and encourage our clients active daily living. We have many fun outings and also lots of creative activities within the residents home .We are offered many extra opportunities , in service and online certificates to help us with new skills so we can provide excellent care for our residents and good communication with families.

I highly recommend this facility. The level and care of my son is excellent and has been for ten years. The staff go above and beyond in his care and interact with us on a regular basis regarding health care, dentist appointments, dispersement of funds as well as general well being and happiness of the client. We have experienced the highest level of support and care for the last ten years. The home setting is attractive, clean, bright and non institutional. Visitors are always welcome and residents always treated with respect, dignity and made to feel like family. The numerous activities planned and the integration with staff have made my son feel valued and reassured. The staff have been proactive and sensitive to his needs and adjusted his care as required. I recommend Westsyde Care Residencefor any person who requires the type of care they provide. They have given us, as a family a life. Although our life is not as it was we are able to be happy and well adjusted. On a personal note I wish to express the gratitude of this family to each and every member of the staff. Thank you.

My dad is a resident of this care home and he suffers from brain injury and alcoholism. The workers give him his full welfare check and he spends it on alcohol. Today he fell down and smashed his head on the pavement after drinking and ended up in the ER at Royal Inland Hospital again. This is the 3rd time we are aware of this happening his past one year. This care home does not deserve a 5 star rating. We will be contacting the Ministry who handles his file and will be demanding him to be removed from this facility.

As with every facility we have an obligation to support the client to the best of our ability. However unless there is a public trustee and boundries put in place, we aren't able to micro manage their spending. We highly encourage the use of gift cards it limits where they spend their money but gives them a vast variety of choices when they go to the establishments that utilize these option We can give suggestions but we don't have the authority to force them to make good choices. Sometimes assistance from the family helping them understand the importance of healthy living goes along way. If we all work as a team to be supportive with the clients, the daily challenges these clients face become that much easier for them to choose healthy active living. I've worked here for 15 years and see the highs and the lows of the clients emotions and challenges of making good choices on a regular bases. Its frusterating to watch them being challenged by the same obstacles over and over.... but support and praise is the best thing we can give them when they make appropriate ĺifestyle choices. Addiction is a hard cycle to break. We respect their human rights as well as encourage positive change. Our jobs here are very challenging as no two clients brain injuries are the same. This is a great facility to work at and its small enough that the clients benifit from positive one on one interaction.
