Our experience as primary supporters for a friend who was bed-ridden and paralyzed in complex care for several months until her death, was uniformly positive. Beginning with the staff at the reception desk, right up to upper management, everyone was communicative and supportive. They were thoughtful and creative in the ways they dealt with our friend and with us. Those caring for her directly day to day were considerate, cheerful and skillful. A simple example, is that they chose things to wear that pleased her and helped her look her best. They went out of their way to do special things to interest her and raise her spirits. They continually sought ways to alleviate our friend's condition through direct care, meetings and consultation with professionals, us and our friend. They were positive, knowledgeable and easy to contact. In similar fashion, her death was handled efficiently and with compassion. We feel very fortunate to have had this home for our friend's last days.

I wish I had better things to say about this facility. It is a beautiful building and there are some honest-hearted people that work there but unfortunately they are overworked and so the turn over rate is high. I had a friend that lived there for 10 years. She felt like she was in prison. She lived in the lock down unit and was supposed to have 24 hour care but some days she didn't even get a cup of coffee until after 4 PM. Dementia patients would wander in and out of her room and threaten her. She was told the only thing she could do to protect herself was to close her door and lock it, but her room was so hot from her oxygen concentrator going 24/7 that she would have died if she had done that. Sadly she did die in April 2018. Her condition started to deteriorate months before that and I asked them to get her more medical help. They told me that she was fine and that they were all she needed. They weren't going to allow her to go to the hospital, I had to fight to get her there. She was in hospital for 3.5 weeks before she died. (and they didn't think she was sick). After she died, I went in to clean out her room. No one from management made any effort to meet me there. I left a couple of tables in the room that some of the staff gave her while she was living there and I later got a phone call telling me that I would have to pay a fine of $500 if I didn't remove them. It was heart breaking. I was already mourning the loss of my friend and now I was getting flack from the management. I hope no one has to leave their loved ones in this facility. It may look beautiful from the outside and even inside, but don't be deceived...

I completely love this place. My mother is always cared for and the care aids are welcoming, giving and compassionate ladies. They try hard to stay on top of my mother's needs, and even give me advice and cheerful hugs, when I am needing them. I totally support this facility, and would honestly recommend Kamloops Seniors Village to anyone needing a place to call home in their senior years. I love you all....
