The worst facility I have ever been to. 1) phyllis the occupational therapist describes people by their race. ex " the ORIENTAL man can help you" Who even says oriental? "Ash, my indian assitant"... It's vile and disgusting. Why is race needed to describe someone, if you tell me to find "Ash" I'll just ask for him by name, as any decent person would. Phyllis is a deplorable excuse for an occupational therapist and should retire immediately. 2) The unit clerk is rude and ineffective. When my husband asked him where we could find a nurse he said "here, at the nursing station"... there wasn't a nurse there, obviously. When we said we'd like to speak to an RN immediately as my mother was cool and clamy he said "immediately doesn't happen here" 3) The staff is inconsistent, my mother has had a different care aide every day for the last 11 days. And every day she has had crust in her eyes and food on her mouth when I get there. Our healthcare system may be overwhelmed but there's no reason for the nonsense we've experienced there. Disgusted with everything about Gorge rd Hospital! *Edited to reply, We've spoken to Donna twice, she's aware. She is apparently quite comfortable with the lack of care in her facility. Phyllis r-equires immediate HR training, and I hope that is addressed ! - **Edited again 2018-08-14 I received an email saying the response to my review had been updated, I don't notice a change. My husband and my sister spoke with Donna separately and are convinced she could not care less regarding the safety of her residents nor the language of her staff. I have made this review using an alias as I fear my speaking out will further impact the care my mother receives.

Excellent hospital with hardworking, caring staff.

My mother has been on a respite stay at the Gorge Hospital. I visited her most days as was upset about being away from home - probably 10 times in all. I became more uneasy as her stay continued. There seemed to be very little interaction between staff and patients. It may well be that the facility is understaffed, but that is no excuse for the lack of care that my mother received when she became ill. After a few days, I wanted to know if patients had been tested for c. difficile. The nurse I spoke to refused, at first, to answer the question - apparently "privacy" was the issue - then told me that my mother did not have "c. difficile" and hung up on me.
