Baywood Home Care took over responsibility for my father’s care, at age 103, from another home care agency with which we had had innumerable, serious problems, largely due to the fact that they could not attract and retain competent in-home caregivers and followed policies that led to them withholding of crucial information, particularly about negligent care and petty theft. After a particularly serious series of events, I received a recommendation of Baywood from a local senior services agency, and Baywood managed the transition from the previous agency rapidly and without any problem. Dad needed considerable assistance with all the activities of daily living, but he was mobile, alert, and engaged in what was happening around him and in the world at large. He passed away last year at 104-1/2, after a rapid downturn and heart failure, but his regular Baywood caregiver, who was with him for 18 months, provided excellent care up to the very end of his life, including home-cooked meals and very caring personal assistance and interaction. That, and her alert observations, maintained his quality of life at a high level despite his advanced age and various medical setbacks. In my own work I deal with many health professionals. His Baywood nurse care manager was superb – highly skilled, professional, experienced, and caring. In a number of cases, her intervention was essential in successfully addressing a lack of coordination between Dad’s health care system, its components, and the hospital when he needed inpatient care. Because I live far from St. Paul, on the West Coast, it was essential that I be able to communicate with Dad’s nurse and his live-in caregiver in an open way, and get timely, accurate information, and that was never a problem with Baywood! We could work as a team. Our entire family is profoundly grateful for the care Dad received.

Hello; We have been using Baywood Home Care for our mother since Novemeber of 2012. First off, we believe Mom wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the care she has received in her own home with Baywood's caregivers. We interviewed 3 companies and chose Baywood as the best fit for Mom. Caregivers were in place in her home within 24 hours of moving forward. Their skilled people are great at their jobs and you can tell that they really like and value their jobs. None of us 4 children live in the same town as Mom and it is such a comfort to know that she is well taken care of. We brought Mom home from a nursing home to be at her own home and she is so much happier. She had bed sores, digestion problems, had four falls in nursing home care and we expected her time was going to be limited. That has taken a complete turnaround. Mom will never be able to be completely on her own, but all those concerns from before have completely disappeared. She eats good meals now, no sores for a long time, she and her caregiver go out for tacos, hair appointments and other outings. It's true peace of mind for our family. Even after a hip fracture a little over a year ago, she came back home after surgery in the hospital and her doctor had suggested hospice care as he thought she'd do well to go another 3 months. Well, that was almost a year ago!!! He now says she defied the odds. I think we all know why! Without Baywood, we really believe she would not still be here. If you are considering care for a loved one in your family, give Baywood a call, and have them taken care of in their own home. I would be happy to visit with anyone who would like to.

The owner, Dorothy Muffett, is just awful to work with! She treats her employees terribly. Because of her I would not deal with them at all!
