The office staff was very helpful when I went in for the interview and got me out to do an interview with a the client that day. That was amazing becausea that was indeed what they promised to do when I called originally. However, there were many things that were “red flags” after the interview with the client.
1. I was told I would receive a call back the next day after the interview. That did not happen.
2. They have a text messaging system where they put out the available jobs for anyone who is interested to call the office. A very cool system. However, they put the job out on the text messaging system without calling me back to let me know that I didn’t get the job.
3. I called back when I saw the text regarding the job still being open and the employee who answered the phone who was my first contact with the office, started out by telling me that, that was for another job. However, her coworker got on the phone and told me the fact that I didn’t get the job and then told me that the client was ‘overwhelmed with me.” They jumped to conclusions that they didn’t need to regarding what I told the client and worse, she was abrupt in telling me she would call if another similar job came in.
4. I called to find out if after signing all their paperwork, if I was bound as an employee as I hadn’t worked for them yet. The owner answers, and I told him (though I didn’t know that he was the owner) what had actually happened on the interview and the above actions on the part of his employees, to which he apologized, and told me I wasn’t an employee so was free to look elsewhere. He also said we were weren’t a good match. He didn’t want to deal with the care worker’s point of view that the phone call was never made befoe reposting the job, when a callback was expected. He cut me off and hung up.
If you are a caregiver, I would imagine that you would want to be treated respectfully and not given a bunch of potential lies, assumptions on the office staff’s part and most of all “atttitdue” by those who employ you. Never in my life have I been so poorly treated by a home care company. I have worked in the healthcare field for 35 years and frankly, it was very hurtful and unesccary.
Further, I would like to say that I never write bad reviews for others, especially small family owned businesses, but I feel compelled to leave this here for those caregivers who truly deserve to feel that their employer will not lie, will not “assume” and will not ‘bully” them. It’s hard work, low pay without benefits, so we at least deserve to be treated with respect even if things don’t work out the way we would have liked.
I was waiting for that callback, and never received it. A professional company would have called me as soon as they knew that I didn’t get the job and then posted the job opening. And, they certainly wouldn’t have lied about that posting not being the job that I applied for. The nasty attitude is a whole other matter.
Good luck to all you loving, caring caregivers out there. And, hopefully these folks will learn how to have some decent manners and tell the truth, after seeing this feedback.
