I would like to thank the staff and management of Macgillivray Guest  in Sydney. My mother Sadie Kennedy was there, and has now gone home. She became very ill, and almost died while in care in a local hospital. She was 99 years old and from doctors right down expected to pass on. She suffered through being unattended for long periods, given medication in whole form when at the time she could not swallow water...there was an overall feeling of guilt and shame for how the care was delivered. She through incredible family support, both one on one and advocating on her behalf...and a incredible will to live got well enough to be transferred to your facility. The care was evident immediacy, we all felt it, most of all “Ma”. She said to me “this place is like being home, everyone is so kind” that is the medicine you offer...care. The last 3 weeks I was in to visit a lot, and we always felt welcome...this make us feel positive and we in turn pass this on to her. The facility was opened in 1997 with a strong moral mission, and it has not changed. Our Vision: Quality of Life thr ough Care Excellence. Our Mission: MacGillivray Guest Home is a long term care facility that fosters a community of respect and dignity. We are committed to enriching the lives of each resident by providing a comfortable, secure and caring home while striving to meet individual physical, mental, social and spiritual needs. Our Values: • Compassion • Accountability • Respect • Excellence The nursing staff are incredible...these are nursing classmates of the nurses that came close to killing my mother....same people working from different agendas. I speak for the family when I say, well done Macgillivrays you are true caregivers.
