We stopped in one day at the Chartwell “Royal on Gordon” to inquire about the care they provide for seniors. Nicole gave us a tour and talked about the programs and activities available to the residents. We were impressed with the cleanliness, nicely decorated and functional rooms for various activities and a beautiful dining area. The townhouses offered independent living while enjoying some of the programs. Nicole said they were looking for someone to organize the library. Dan and I decided that we would volunteer because working there would give us an opportunity to see, hear and observe.. We were pleased to find that respect, cheerfulness, friendliness and cleanliness were not just for show but for real. We have just moved into a townhouse and already we feel at home. The grounds, staff and some residents are familiar to us and most importantly we know we can count on good care when we need it.

My Mom lives here and I have been so impressed with the care and commitment of the whole team at the Royal on Gordon. From the folks at the front desk, in the dining room and food preparation, the medical personnel, the entertainment staff, the maintenance manager and administrative people, every single person is kind, approachable and focused on the residents. My Mom also loves the food and regularly comments on how good it is. We have had an excellent experience.

When you arrive into the building, the staff already know your name and feel very inviting. I felt special as I walked into the front doors of the Royal on Gordon and saw my name was posted up and the welcoming team greeted me by my name. The staff here at the Royal on Gordon deserve gold stars for their hard work and dedication throughout all of the services that are provided. The staff respect our privacy and knock on the doors before entering. The suites are very spacious and attractive, natural lightening through the windows and high ceilings. The suites are very sound proof. The dining area is large and pleasant and table mates have turned into fast friends. The meals here are excellent and the idea of having a Bistro Area is nice to have-very relaxing, able to interact in domino's, and euchre and create new conversations with fellow residents. I am astounded by how many programs are geared towards our interests such as; crafts, outings into the city/country side by going on the accessible brand new bus, musical entertainment, bingo, variety of exercise programs from (Yoga to playing Kinect Bowling) and variety of events (Mother's Day High Tea, Pub Nights, Family BBQ's, Afternoon Socials and monthly birthday parties to name a few). Hosting special events here at the Royal on Gordon have helped build more friendships within the home with fellow residents. I am able to enjoy the fresh air by sitting outside in park like environment watching local birds at the feeders, watching the rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels play in the waterfall as well as watching the new vegetable garden grow.

In helping my parents find a residence close to us , I found everyone I have dealt with it the Royal to be helpful, accommodating and just plain nice. When I have had specific questions I have never had a problem getting answers . In general,it’s been a very good experience.

I have had the pleasure of working with a number of residents at the Royal on Gordon. This also provides a unique opportunity to observe the staff and facility from an outsider point of view. The residents all speak highly of all aspects of the home. I have had dinner at the Royal on Gordon and found the choices and quality impressive. The staff are genuine. I have referred my clients to the Royal on Gordon and will continue to do so. Great facility and even better staff!
