I highly recommend it. The staff & workers are excellent. The older building layout means that there is more interaction among staff & residents accenting the family atmosphere. I have visited & helped people living in a variety of local nursing homes so I am familiar with most of them but I like this one best.

Facility somewhat dated, but staff was outstanding in the convelesance care unit for the 90 days my mother was there. Always cheerful and helpful even though they were rushed off their feet 99% of the time. Willing to take time to speak with me, call me with info etc. Look beyond the walls and see the caring people!

I will start by saying this place is not the prettiest to look at, but honestly it is so full of love from staff. My grandmother was here for about two years until she suffered a stroke and unfortunately passed away. While she was in pallative care not only did they look after her well, but they also took care of our family. Bringing us coffee trays, dinner water snacks. They we're amazing on all counts. I would recommend this place to anyone. Even the maintenence guy came to see us, and came by to see her daily to say hi. Amazing place.

If you value your loved one, please do not send them to this nursing home. The staff members are very cold. The atmosphere is that of the nursing home horror stories you see on the news. The nurses care only to administer medication and meals. There is very to little interaction between staff and residents. Hygenically, I was absolutely repulsed with the care my grandmother received. Her personal telephone, was never near reach, we would call for hours and not a single staff would answer or bring the telephone closer as per her request. There was an incident in which her telephone fell beneath the bed during our phone call, five hours later was her line put back on the reciever. I was also told that she had to wait for a nurse, and they check on them ever four plus hours. By the end of my grandmothers life she had complete dementia. Unable to feed herself, she lay there utterly dehydrated, unbathed and ignored. My family and I will for we feel deep guilt for having our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, live out the end of her days in that hell. If you can afford better please do so, and give your loved one what they so rightfully deserve.

My Mom was only 1.5 weeks at Strathaven when she passed The staff and administration were very caring and made her comfortable in her last days. I recommend them.
