The occupational therapist my mom was sent was thorough and got my mom the equipment she needed to stay safe in the home. She was very friendly and personable.

There's a special place in hell for those that neglect vulnerable people -- especially those they are paid to serve -- and those that allow it to happen. Dad was recently discharged from the hospital based on CCAC promise to provide my Mom with supports required to bring him home -- ensuring Dad's diaper could be changed three times a day. We would never have dreamed that on top of the burden of care my Mom already had to deal with, that she'd be faced with the task of placing a dozen or so calls to get the promised service or that -------> six days later

Grossly incompetent management and/or scheduling personnel. They play the blame game well and to hell with client care! Sorry I had to give even one star ... they don't deserve even that! VHA provides PSW services under contract to Central East LIH (previously known as CCAC). They, in turn, sub-contracted the east area of Scarborough to Transcare Health Network for additional PSW staffing assistance. Husband, 83 years of age and stage 6 Alzheimer 's, was released from a three-week stay in hospital non-weight-bearing with CCAC giving 3 extra PSW hours (total 4 hours daily) to provide extra assistance with morning in-bed bathing, incontinence care twice during the day, and again in the evening while preparing for bed. Transcare advised they do not have sufficient PSW staffing to cover the evening hour visits from 7 to 8 pm, though they did provide service for the first two evenings, and apparently turned this portion back to VHA. The morning and evening services are the most important requirement but, since those first two evenings, evening service was not provided and VHA insists the problem belongs to Transcare, not them. I beg to differ!!!!

Our family received many years of excellent care for our daughter with special needs. The PSW's and nurses that helped in our home were the very best and we felt that VHA always made the effort to be the support we needed even as the situation was ever-changing.
