Chart well Royal Marquis on Howard Ave is a MESS. General manager "Anne marie" has zero to no empathy. and it shows when shes addressing residents. they seem as more of a burden then a respected elder. or peer. most staff on desk have no personality or drive to make each resident feel valued. nurses are often absent when needed. and understaffed. food in the kitchen is served cold and if resident doesn't want the entree they usually have to settle with just soup and salad for supper. as the cook in the kitchen often refuses to make exceptions and in bad taste as they pay upwards to 1,600 to 5,000 dollars a month to live here. make them an egg salad sandwich if they wish for gods sake. for that amount of money AND having to be alone would probably suit anyone better than calling here home.

I have been an employee at the royal marquis for 10 years. im at the point in my life where if I had to choose a retirement home to live at the royal marquis would definitely be my first choice. Good management, great food from a great chef and the staff always goes above and beyond.

Staff in kitchen abuse the residents and have been investigated on grounds of misconduct. food is served cold and in poor fashion. my boyfriend used to work there in the past and had horror stories of the other staff, nurses included. he had love for all of the residents as they love you like family. but alot of the staff at this location mistreat the elderly. nurses are lazy as well as overworked and kitchen service is so poor. they have fruit flies everywhere. and kitchen is run by a bunch of hormonal teens because the food service manager does not know how to hire properly for the position. the place is going to be sold soon for sure do not put your loved one in here. period.

Impossible to live in the area because of horrible smell spreaded by Zalev Brothers plant (just across the street) in the atmosphere. Aluminium dust and rust dust and heavy smog&smell of melted metals ......The City Council must be irresponsable letting this plant to destroy human lives and bussineses in the area.

Our mom had an almost two year long stay at the Chartwell Royal Marquis Retirement Residence on Grand Marais rd E in Windsor ON. During her stay we had the pleasure of interacting with a great nursing team headed by Jasna Keyeux! They were very sincere, hardworking and friendly, to say the least. The facility has a fairly good entertainment program for the residents. Overall their front desk and dining room staff rate very well here. However, we saw discrimination and lack of tolerance and empathy for cognitively impaired residents from the administrative side. There is no sincerity in the way they deal with dementia patients. If this facility says they are geared to care for and provide supervision for cognitively impaired residents, my score on this is extremely low. Once they find a resident has mood changes or behaviors related to their cognitive impairment, they will make sure they get rid of them in a very undignified way. We felt they almost drove our mother to failure so that they can justify why a resident left the facility. We do understand our mother probably needed higher placement with her disease progression. It is unfortunate that management chose discriminative and manipulative styles to deal with the situation when this could have been discussed with us in a more professional way. We saw some of the staff members reluctantly following orders from management for fear of loosing their jobs while kinder residents discretely hinted to us about the situation. The otherwise friendly Managers became suddenly unavailable, forcing the lower level staff to follow unpleasant orders while they stayed away from being the “bad person”. The case was very different when my mother was initially admitted and cognitively more stable. Management was always available and pleasant and never condescending! It is sad that they don’t realize how this kind of intolerance can damage the dignity of helpless elderly. I do hope your loved ones would never have to face such damage to their minds.
