I began my building journey with Homes by Avi in January of 2018 with my partner Mitch, it was our first build and we definitely wish in hind site we had gone with a different builder. We began our process with our salesperson Vu, who was absolutely fantastic and the reason we had purchased a home in the first place. He was unfortunately let go partway through the process before our selection appt. Leticia (his replacement) was great to deal with as well no complaints there! She was extremely personable and answered our questions quickly, however did not have a ton of experience with the type of home we were building, and also it was difficult not having our salesperson there to validate all the promises he had made. Our first evidence of broken promises started in selections with Kelly. We were promised on the signing of our build package that the upgraded appliance package included a gas counter-top range and wall oven, which it did not, a 5000.00 mistake left for us to pay for. We were informed there are no substitutions to the package so we would be unable to just pay the difference in cost, and would have to pay for all the appliances ourselves, and choose another (less valuable to us ) upgrade package, selections was unsympathetic to this issue. Second, was the upgraded island which Vu and kelly had both ensured us would have the panelling on the front instead of stubwall, little known to us, somewhere deep in the unexplained and confusing paperwork the 1000.00 upgrade was not included and on one of our walkthroughs we were told that it would not be added, and would cost and extra 200.0 to fix because they will have to break off the fasteners to install it. All of this would be at our cost, even after asking selections to pay for it( or at least the cost of the brackets that they have to break off ) Upon our request we received no response for over a week, and then upon pressing the issue we were told that "Its clearly in the paperwork" When it "clearly" was not explained and what we were told, and what the paperwork said were two completely different things. Third was our garage drain, which was completely crooked. This is a simple issue that shows lack of care from the people who installed it, and in a 700,000.00 house with a triple car garage, it is something we are not happy with. We made it clear when in the sales process and selections that the only reason we are building and not buying is because of the garage, we couldn't find anything we liked that had a triple which is a necessity for us. We spoke with our site super multiple times about this, were referred to his superior and still to this day, after MULTIPLE calls, have not received a response. Lastly moving into the house, we realized that there was a general lack of care on many things. Stickers still attached to all the chandeliers that are extremely high up and almost impossible to reach, UNPAINTED spots near light switches in the MASTER bedroom, all of our lighting was placed UPSIDE DOWN in the bathrooms it is unable to be switched around because the holes are too low, even though I have multiple emails confirming the directions of the lights. My conclusion is that in purchasing a new home you should be very careful with who you deal with, and we will not be using avi again as they can't even get back to us and do not value our business. Once the papers are signed, and the deposit has been paid, they simply don't care. Also would recommend getting an outside inspector to do a home inspection as they hire one that works for them to protect themselves.
