I love our townhouse now but there were a lot of cut corners in the building of the house and although it's free for the first year of repairs we had to call so many contractors back I nearly lost my job for the amount of appointments we had to schedule to have things fixed. They give you a very open range for times they might show up, contractor's were generally rude which isn't a great feeling when you waited for hours upon hours for them to show up only to feel unwelcome in your own house while they correct things that was the mistake of whomever did the job in the first place is very frustrating. When I say they might show up I mean it they tell you someone will be by in the hours between 8am and 5pm and sometimes the contractors never even showed up! My mom's shower door which was sliding glass had been propped into the sliders with double sided tape!!! In a shower!!!!!! Someone who did plumbing left a rag in the sewage line and we had to have biohazard people come in to replace our drywall and insulation in the basement thank goodness it was over cement. We had over 16 panels of hardwood taken out and replaced because the people who installed our refrigerator left three huge gashes in the hardwood that was an expensive upgrade and that took nearly 10 hours of them hacking our kitchen apart and when I went to get a glass of water after hiding in my basement for hours and asked if the workers were doing okay one of them looked at me shook his head didn't say a word like I was insulting him and started hammering at the floor again even though I'm forced to wait for them to finish but you see where I'm going with this and that was only a fraction of the things we had to have fixed. When all is said and done we do love our place now but it took the full first year to have everything done the way it should have been done in the first place and my advice is to be very thorough on your walk through to make sure you don't end up paying even more for the mistakes made by people who should very frankly be happy they have jobs.
