I attended the Trend Living Grand Opening Sales event last weekend. I was one of the people that lined up a couple days prior to make sure I was able to purchase a condo in this development. I had every intention on spending my nights in my car or camped out front if I needed to, to be able to get the opportunity to purchase. Luckily the new horizon team didn’t want me or anyone else there sleeping outside! PHEW! They advised us that if we stayed until 7pm that evening we would receive bands and be able to go home! I was ecstatic! I received my band that evening went home and arrived bright and early the Saturday morning of the grand opening event. I was so happy I was able to purchase a condo! So much anticipation and excitement over this development! Thank you New Horizon for building yet another great development!! I am SO excited! And thank you mostly for your compassion for the “early birds”!! -Karen

Avoid their condos at all costs - flashy marketing is only appealing until you move in. The entire building at 85 Robinson Street, Hamilton - City Square Place was built using the wrong drywall (not moisture proof, as per OBC) in the kitchens, bathrooms and laundry areas. My drywall is now turning to mush. They refuse to replace the drywall. Shame on you and shame on the City of Hamilton Building Inspectors for not catching this during construction. I cannot believe you and the City of Hamilton aren't taking responsibility for this error.

Despite New Horizon's denial and attempted cover up, I can confirm City Square Condos, located at 85 Robinson Street, Hamilton has a major drywall defect in all units' bathrooms, laundry and kitchen areas. As per OBC and in New Horizon's own standard features list, these areas are to use a water resistant cement board. Contractors are currently entering units and only cutting out small areas of the affected areas and painting and patching. All drywall needs to be replaced to prevent future rotting and deterioration. The gross negligence of New Horizon Development Group and The City of Hamilton inspectors is grounds for a class action lawsuit, which is currently in the works. Don't believe me? Just ask anyone living in this building.

Trend Living launch was by far the worst grand opening experience. Like others, I waited for a year for this development, registered as a VIP and kept checking in anticipation for the launch. Finally get an email that the day had finally come and went ahead registering for 2pm. Then I noticed that 2pm was for anyone and everyone. I knew then this would be a crazy event. So when I received a text that people were "camping out" in front of the sales office 3 days before the grand opening, I headed over and saw 4 cars parked and a sign up sheet. I was advised to sign up, which I did and later that evening get a text that anyone who signed up had to stay at the sales office until 7pm the next day, when they would hand out wristbands. The next day, the rules changed yet again and names were crossed off the list every hour if you weren't there...7pm finally got a wristband. Finally, the day of the grand opening. I arrived very early in the morning and the sales began just before 10am. Who were the first "groups" to enter? Yes "groups", many groups of 10 because you see...a realtor with 1 wristband could bring in 10 people on a single wristband. A large number of "realtor groups" went in while the rest of us suckers spent hours of waiting and waiting, just to end up with slim pickings. Even some other realtors had to wait, so I'm thinking some realtors had extra special access. I never recalled even seeing any of the first realtors nor their 10 buyers each that got in right away, not 3 days nor 2 days nor 1 day before the event. On a positive note, the food was great and I met a lot of nice people, so it wasn't a complete waste of 3 days.

I had been waiting for the pricing release for nearly two years. registered as a VIP in 2017 and got regular updates. Was really excited to get into Building 1, but much to my surprise, on the day they released the pricing (April 10), a few days before their Grand Opening Sale April 13th, out of 247 units in B1 only 7 (seven!) were available today , the rest had already been pre-sold. That's over 99% pre-sold. The response from their Sales guy was rather shocking. Essentially tried to berate me by saying where I got my sense of entitlement from to be able to get front-row access to B1, after all I was only on the VIP-List. But with NHDG being on the VIP-List really has no value, they sell to family, friends, co-workers, realtors and previous buyers first, before they consider VIPs, or as the Sales Rep calls them "strangers". Highly unprofessional conduct. I was truly excited about this Trendliving Project, specifically Building 1, but there is a fundamental difference between having been given a fair chance to buy into the building of your choice and then get beaten by competing buyers, but not even being giving that chance and then to degrade potential customers on top is appalling to say the least. Waterdown is growing and this isn't the only Condo project, so my money will have to be parked a bit longer to buy into another development...it sure as hell won't be with NHDG.
