We have had a heavy hearted experience with Pym and Copper. We hired Brent and his company for our multi-million dollar home renovation project which included adding a second story to our existing home, tearing out an existing hot tub to make it more aesthetically pleasing, landscaping + patio construction and to act as general contractor. Though we love our home, we are utterly distressed by the fact that Brent will not stand by the quality of his work. Our hot tub stopped working properly after 2 months of use, but since it was just a waterfall issue, we decided that we could live without the waterfalls. However, the following summer we realized that the flawed waterfall feature was only the tip of the iceberg, and we were never able to use the hot tub after the initial two months. It began leaking water from what we now know is a structural issue- a crack in the cement that goes all the way through the hot tub, from the inside out. In addition to the structural issue and the use of improper glass tiles for our ontario climate, the hot tub is literally crumbling apart as you can see in the images. Brent has refused to come look at the issue, stating that his Sub Contractor is to blame and that this Sub Contracted Company is no longer in business. He also added that we are well past any warranty period that we "might have had", having had this hot tub completed 5 summers ago. We only live at this summer property for a few months out of each year, and we have not been able to enjoy our multi-million dollar investment to its full potential for even one full summer. On top of the hot tub issue, Brent ensured us that he would oversee all of the "smart home" audio/video/lighting automation with a company who we wanted to replace. Allowing Brent to be the general contractor to oversee this was a huge mistake- and after 5 years with no home automation due to the fact that it never worked properly, we are now paying nearly $100,000 to have the system fixed and properly programmed, on top of the $250,000 that it cost to have the original system installed. Overall, we are looking at an additional $250,000 worth of repairs on a home that was supposed to be built without any problems. In addition to the above mentioned problems, we have stucco peeling from the backside of our house due to the fact that it wasn't applied correctly by Pym and Cooper. I find no pleasure in writing this review as I do believe that Brent and his team at Pym and Cooper are good people. I understand that unforeseeable events like structural flaws in concrete hot tubs or stucco defects can occur, but when these things do occur, any contractor has two choices: deny responsibility even though they know that they are responsible, or correct the problem. It says a lot about a company that refuses to correct their mistakes. If Pym and Cooper decide to reach out to me and correct the problems that I have been asking them to correct, I will be happy to update this review.
