The Hearing Aid Store

Rene is the best at what she does! She helped my husband by fitting him with the best hearing aid mold he has ever had. I have had to put up with many, many "whistling" hearing aids over the past 25 years. The whistling didn't bother him but drove me crazy! Many different people have tried to correct the problem but Rene is the only one that solved it. She is highly recommended and appreciated.

An exceptionally patient-focused, honest, and helpful hearing aid purveyor. I live in Berkeley and though I could get help much closer to where I live and work, I'm willing to drive to Walnut Creek.

This place doesn't even deserve even 1 star as a negative star would fit them best. Its all because of Ms. Rene Morten who runs that place. Her front staff is really nice but BEWARE, I MEAN LITERALLY BEWARE OF RENE MORTEN!! SHE HAS A DUAL PERSONALITY AND ANGER ISSUES. Reasons for her extremely bad and unprofessional behaviour towards me: 1. rescheduling my appointment for running late by 15 mins (I got stuck in traffic and called the office) 2. not wearing my hearing aids for my appointment (I had them in a bag as I wanted them exchanged for a smaller size which are less visible) 3. my ENT specialist requesting a new audio test you must be thinking these are not reasons enough to have a bad encounter with someone. EXACTLY!! TELL ME ABOUT IT!! let me tell you my story: My ENT specialist (who I absolutely adore and respect) has been recommending me to get hearing aids due to my hearing loss and this year they were a covered benefit under my insurance. Since her audiologist was not in my network, I ended up going to Ms. Rene Morten. She sized and ordered hearing aids for me stating that I have 45 days of trial period and also requested a medical release form from by ENT specialist so she could compare my new results with my old ones. While I was trying my new hearing aids which I felt were little big, my ENT evaluated my new results and she requested a few more testings to be done, so I contacted Rene Morten for that. I was running late by 10-15 mins for my friday (12/15/17) 9:00am appointment due to traffic so I called the office to apologize and if they could still see me. Rene Morten answered the phone, yelling “I am not going to see you if you are even 1 second over 15 mins. I will not let you ruin my whole day.”I was already in Walnut creek but I rescheduled for Monday morning 9:00am. I felt bad for running late but that does'nt give her authority to shout at me. I work in the medical field also, I have never ever experienced such rudeness over running 15 mins late for an appointment. On Monday (12/18/17) morning, I reached 5 mins before my appointment. Rene rolled her eyes when she saw me. I handed her the papers given to me by my ENT specialist for a new audio test and told her that the hearing aids are in a pouch on her table as I want a little smaller ones if possible. At that her face became red, she started yelling again all the time pointing her fingers at me “THIS IS THE SECOND TIME YOU TRIED TO RUIN MY DAY. WHY ARE THE HEARING AIDS NOT IN YOUR EARS. YOU WERE RUNNING LATE ON FRIDAY TRYING TO RUIN MY WHOLE DAY AND NOW YOU ARE NOT WEARING YOUR HEARING AIDS. I AM SEEING YOU, RENE MORTEN, JUST BECAUSE I TAKE YOUR INSURANCE, ELSE YOU WOULD BE OUT OF MY OFFICE”. I apologized for running late and rescheduling on Friday morning and didnt mean to ruin her day. She said “you didnt ruin my day AS I DIDNT LET YOU”, her eyes popping out of her sockets, face as red as a tomato and finger pointing at me. I just kept quite and wanted to leave her office but my body froze. I couldnt believe what I just experienced. Then she stormed out of the consultation room to the reception area to make photocopies all the time yelling and knodding her head left and right- “I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU WANT SMALLER HEARING AIDS WITH NO WHISTLES AND BELLS. ALSO I WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE NEW HEARING AIDS UNTIL YOU PROVIDE ME THE MECIAL RELEASE FORM AND WOULD NOT DO A NEW HEARING TEST UNTIL THEN TOO”. She repeated this 3 times. I said yes and left her office with the photocopied papers and my original hearing aids. At that she followed me in the parking lot to my car asking to give her back the hearing aids. I just left and would NEVER EVER WANT TO SEE HER. I dont feel safe in her presence. I learnt one lesson from this experience- never judge a book by its cover. Her sweet nature during my first visit was totally opposite than her angry, rude, insulting nature yesterday morning.

Great Little office. Under new management - Give them a try. Terry Tegeler is fantastic and will go above and beyond for all your hearing needs!

My hearing aid experiences with other hearing aid stores were awful until I went to the Hearing Aid Store. The audiologist,Terry Tegeler, is so competent, professional, patient, and has a very welcoming personality. He has fixed my hearing aids several times, and mind you, I did not buy my hearing aids there as I was not living in Walnut Creek at that time. By all means, if you need hearing aids, go to the Hearing Aid store in Walnut Creek.
