At first contact they are very helpful and nice and seem genuinely concerned. Here are the reasons why we are giving them only one star: 1. We received a letter in the mail advertising hearing aids for less than $500.00 per ear on sale from $800.00 per ear, plus a free hearing test. We scheduled the testing because of some difficulty hearing high pitched tones. When we got there and underwent the testing, I was told I needed hearing aids. There was never any talk about the hearing aids that the letter mentioned. Instead, I was directed to hearing aids which would have cost almost 6,500! They would not discuss the price with us and wanted me to take the hearing aids and wear them for a week and then return and discuss pricing. When the salesman/technician saw that we were not going to do anything without first knowing the price, he finally relented and allowed us to know the price and still try them. 2. While I was being tested my wife was handed a paper to read about the dangers of not correcting hearing loss leading to dementia. This behavior in my opinion was classic bait and switch. 3. After the week was over I went back to return the hearing aids having noticed no difference with or without them. The same technician salesman that gave me the test became visibly ticked off that I was not there to purchase. He did call me later to apologize with the explanation that it is very frustrating after spending so much time with me and not making the sale. I also work and earn commissions, however, not making every sale is part of the job and I truly feel the customer/client, should always be treated with respect regardless. 4. I was offered the test results (A copy of the results, a print out from the computer) and when I said yes, then I was told it would cost me $110.00. I declined. 5. Wanting a second opinion I found another hearing testing place the next city over which is a 10 minute ride from Deland. I found them after researching on line about hearing aides and finding a company that works with hearing labs all over the U.S. and that offers the free hearing testing and a really good discount. The same pair of aides that Connect Hearing wanted to sell me would cost me $1,500 less. Since I had nothing to lose I scheduled the appointment. It is a family run hearing lab and they were great. Met me after hours, charged me nothing gave me a copy of my test results with an explanation, and told me that at this point in time I did not yet need aides! In fact he told me that at this point I would notice no difference wearing them or not and that if I did wear them now it could possibly cause more hearing loss problems. He told me I would eventually need them so get my hearing checked again in one year or sooner if I noticed any problems before one year. He also told me that what I would probably need would cost about 3,000 to 3,500. So for all these reasons, I say to you consumers, beware of Connect Hearing!!!! They are out to make sales not to help people. Always get a second or third opinion if needed!
