For some time, I knew that my hearing was deteriorating. However, I had little idea how bad it was until I realized that I could not hear what some people were saying to me.
At that point, I began to investigate my hearing-aid options. Many family members had worn them, and they had informed me of a variety of complaints that they had about them. Chief among them were their battery problems. Given their compact size, they used small, costly batteries, so they had a short service life and needed frequent replacement. In addition, some of my relatives had arthritis, which gave them dexterity problems, so that affliction made changing the batteries an aggravating undertaking.
Their other complaint was that their hearing aids often needed service. In fact, some of them told me that their hearing aids seemed to spend more time in the repair center than in their ears. Given these problems. I was reluctant to acquire some—along with the aggravations that I expected to accompany them. Regardless, I realized that I could no longer ignore my hearing problem, so I decided to see what could be done about it.
One day, to that end, I stopped in the Hartland Hearing Care Centers' Manhattan, Kansas, office and then asked it staff if they could test my hearing. The center's manager, Rick Hartwick, did so, and then informed me that i had a significant hearing loss and needed hearing aids.
As we discussed my options, he told me of Audibel's new digital hearing aids—which have RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES—and are able to be reprogrammed, should my hearing change in the future. Thus, with the aids' battery problem seemingly eliminated, and their having the ability to be fine-tuned in the future, I decided to try them. (The only negative factor that caused me to delay my purchase decision was their high price. In the past, when I have spent that much money for something, I was usually handed the keys to my new car, wished well, and then told to drive safely.)
At present, I have had my hearing aids for about six weeks. It took me time to get used to them and, while they will never be able to replicate my original hearing capability, they have improved my hearing greatly.
While the aids themselves are remarkable, they come nowhere near the level of friendly and competent service that I received at Hartland Hearing Care Centers' Manhattan office.. Hence, I heartily (Hartily?) recommend it to anyone who lives near it, or its other offices, and needs hearing aids.
