My grandfather was taken advantage of by this business. Dr. Kim sold my grandfather hearing aids for $5,200 that were not needed! My grandfather has been going to see Dr. Kim for years. He wanted to go back to this store because he had purchased the current pair of hearing aids from them five and a half years ago. My grandfather wanted Dr. Kim to "tune up" the current pair of hearing aids. I should have believed him when he told me, "They'll try to upsell me. They won't let me leave the store without buying a new pair." I told him "You can say, I'll think about it, or I need some time." So, guess what she did? She told my grandfather that his only option was to purchase $5,200 worth of new hearing aids!?! Taken advantage of. That is all I can say. She robbed an elderly gentleman, and felt absolutely NO remorse. I called Dr. Kim's office to tell them that my grandfather doesn't have that kind of money, he went in for a "tune up." I received a call from Dr. Kim and the first thing she said when I answered her call was, "I'm going to talk first." Wow, does that not say a whole lot about a person's conscience? She needs to tell herself how she "did not take advantage of him," and "she's been doing this exact thing for years." I barely got to speak on the phone call. I told Dr. Kim that all my grandfather wanted was a "tune up, not a new pair of hearing aids." She repeated time and time again that "his old pair was obsolete" and how "there was no way to fix such an old device." Hmm... this strikes me as very interesting. I get that he does have an old pair of hearing aids, but when we took my grandfather in to a competitor's store, not a mile away, they "tuned up" his hearing aids and told my father (who had to go supervise the trip after our experience with Dr. Kim) that if she sold my grandfather a pair of hearing aids she wouldn't be able to sleep at night because they worked perfectly fine. They cleaned the filters, did some "tuning up" and sent my father and grandfather home without a bill. The long and the short of this is that as a provider to elderly patients it would be easy (as Dr. Kim did in this exact situation) to take advantage of people who rely so heavily on hearing devices.
