Ok....so an update to how this has transpired...although originally Mike was very receptive to doing the right thing and getting the car fixed...we have now endured an 8 day repair, we have since learned that the vehicle left the city to some acreage 35 minutes out of town, without our consent I may add, to what they claimed was a highly specialized mechanic that works on the Porsches, Ferraris, etc. We finally got the car back today, within 10 minutes it threw an engine code, first one was an IAC code, then a throttle position code, both located under the intake manifold that they claim had to be removed to correct the oil leak that we took it back for.
At this point, the car has thrown 3 codes, it won't idle as expected, we found a disconnected air line to the intake, really a simple item, but their expert missed it ! As of today the car won't idle, it's rev's jump all over the place which leads me to believe the intake system was incorrectly installed. The car actually ran better before it went in for repairs, at that time it just had a significant leak, now it is hard to drive.
Be very careful of this place, nice guys, but we just got a lemon, and then we got further complications as they had their specialist do more harm to the car than they did good. A oil leak didn't prevent us from driving it, now it is headed to a reputable shop to get fixed correctly.
A very poor experience to say the least.
Buy somewhere else, this organization is not looking after the Customer is any way !!!!
Run...Run...far way....before it costs you a sh*t ton of money due to their incompetent practices.
My initial beliefs were true
we were looking to get our son a newer car and he found a few to look at, with one being here at the Purple Car. I have to be honest, as an older guy I have many memories, most not so fond, of the small lot dealers, back in my day they typically sold the shady vehicles that were "patched" together and made to look good but usually had underlying problems.
We came by Purple Car to see the unit in question, and it looked good, was nicely cleaned up and appeared to be in good order. Naturally I was skeptical.
After the test drive it all seemed good, an independent inspection was done and no real issues were noted, so we decided to move forward to negotiate a deal. A deal was struck, my son was ecstatic as he loved the car, and we arranged for pick up.
Everything was going well, it was about -30 at the time, and then 3 days after it got home, it happened, I found a large pool of oil under his car in the garage, and then the next day another. Of course the first thing in my mind was what happened, who was trying to hide something ?
So I reached out to Mike, the Sales Manager and told him my story, not overly politely to be honest, and I figured it would die there and we would be on the hook for a costly repair bill in the first week of ownership.
I was very pleasantly surprised to have Mike reply back within the hour ( this was 6 am as well) and his response was ideal " I am terribly sorry, please bring the car back and we will get it repaired".
Mike and his team made every arrangement to get the vehicle in, assess what had happened and set it up for the repairs. I could tell right away by his response, that it was as much a surprise to them as it was to us.
Their handing of this situation restored my faith in a smaller dealer, they specialize in unique cars, and the guys in the office are genuine "car guys", who are working here as they enjoy it, not just looking for an easy sale.
Overall, a fabulous place to do business, great management team that will take care of the Customer, when you're buying and after the deal is signed !
Would recommend these guys to anyone in the market for a set of wheels.
Very well done Mike and team !

Clint
