Unfortunately I have had only negative experiences with this place. The first one happened when we brought our vehicle in for a recall, while it was in, we asked if they could check the air in the left rear tire as we thought it may be low. After the whole inconvenience of having to lug our son around town without our vehicle and car seat and all, my wife was charged nearly $20 to put air in the tire.
Next problem, same visit.. Our windshield was cracked and since they were going to have our car we decided to have the windshield done on the same day preventing a second trip to town and a second day without our vehicle. Upon pick up, they totally missed/forgot to do it.. Not cool, it's 1.5 hrs round trip just to drive to town and back.
Visit #2 - A rodent problem that Toyota's are well know for brought us back in. Google (Toyota rodent problems). This trip was a result of our heater system not functioning properly. After some self diagnosis and realizing how involved this job could be (in excess of 3 days of labor) I decided to look into whether insurance would cover rodent damage and it in fact did.
Dropping my car off, I was told this would take several days as they strip and completely clean the inside. Every part gets disinfected and of course the repair. I leave the car showing them the mouse poop in the car and heater system. I explained that the seeds and stuff were everywhere and they'd see that once they dismantled the dash and removed the glovebox. Days later I was told they were not able to find any sign of damage (chewed wires etc) so the insurance wouldn't cover it. They then told me that they scanned the vehicle and found a fault in the ac amplifier and that was the apparent cause. I asked if they were wrong, would they pay for the part cost, they said no. The part incidentally was $960+ tax and install. Knowing how dealerships work and how they don't admit to being incorrect and absorbing the costs of that, I decided to do the repair myself. The second reason for that was that upon some research I found the rate of sales (failure rate) of this part was EXTREMELY LOW, so low in fact that nobody I could find had ever had one fail so an autowrecker ( who happened to have a master Toyota tech on the sales line) sold me the part for under $100.
So with that, I bought the ac amplifier and installed it with foreseeable results.. The ac amplifier did not fix the issue.. So that mistake alone would have now set me back nearly $1600 if you include the diagnostic scan they did that was useless.
Next step, replace the dampener servo motor, which is what I told them was what I thought was wrong in the first place.
Back to the wrecker and a few hundred dollars later I was able to install the motor myself without following the very lengthy process Toyota uses and this solved the problem.
Turns out the mice had eaten some nuts and dropped them into the gears which jammed them then wrecking the motor.. Since Toyota didn't even bother to visually inspect the heater assembly, they didn't see it and therefore their failure prevented me from having this repair covered under insurance.. I was very unhappy to say the least. Sadly there's a part two.. Next post.
Problem #3 - third visit -wheel speed sensor failed so I wanted to use genuine Toyota parts. Ordered the drivers side left rear sensor and of course DEFINITELY decided to avoid more disappointment and do it myself. Went into Toyota to pick it up and relate my last experience to them. Asked for the store manager, met a nice gentleman and relayed my lengthy story only to find out at the very end that instead of getting the store manager, I was given to the sales manager who has absolutely no control of the department I had issues with. Apparently the receptionist doesn't know who is in fact in charge when the owner isn't there. Quite a waste of time despite the fact he was understanding and nice about it. He said he'd pass the message on to the service manager and he'd get back to me.. A week has passed, no surprise to me, I've received no call..
