Friendly staff and great service can ask for better

We were on our way through Truro recently and on our way up to Cape Breton for some backpacking, some camping, some golf... a long-awaited vacation. And our SUV broke down on Rte 4. It would start to accelerate, get up to about 8 mph and then refuse to go any faster. We limped along the road, lucky in a way that this happened in town and not far out on the highway, and we saw Stewart Auto Repair and turned in. We were indeed fortunate. Niel and his team welcomed us and gave us a comfortable place to hang while they checked out the car. I let them know right away that it was a rental-- from Brooklyn (NY not NS!) which meant that the rental company would use their own garage and would not pay Stewart Auto for any work they did. Niel told us that but offered to put the SUV up on the lift and run some tests so that we would know what was wrong. And it was very helpful to know as it got us some money back from the rental company. The problem was one that they should have caught before putting us in that vehicle! Anyway, we at last got picked up by the rental company and finally got a new car... after a couple of hours. We spend that time in Niel's front office with water to drink, a phone to use (as our cell phones had no service) and good company. In fact, Niel recommended a golf course in Baddeck which we played a few days later-- nice course. We had a great time there. Thank you Niel and team! -- Pei and Joe
