I was not too impressed with my experience with Duval Toyota. I was able to see on their site that they had the vehicle I was looking for and was hoping to negotiate with them. I called the New Sales Manager, and he was very unprofessional and gave me a terrible price. I then thought well maybe it was because I called him directly and that is not the procedure. I then called back and asked to speak with a sales person. That’s when my awful experience with Guylaine Renaud started. I advised her that she had the car I wanted and I wanted her best price. She said that she would not discuss prices on the phone and I had to go in directly. I believe she must not be aware of the current millennial trendies of buying things without seeing them. When I advised her that I reside in Gatineau, Quebec she then changed her story and was willing to talk price. She laughed at me when I asked her if she would be willing to take 500 profit only on the car (which is reasonable in my opinion seeing how I was ready with my credit card. She declined and said minimum 700 profit is required. I then advised her that I already had a deal for 500 profit at a dealership in Laval and she rudely told me to go their then. This dealership is terrible and they are very greedy. I encourage everyone to do their homework before buying a new car and call every dealership before deciding on the vehicle you want. I used a website that provided me with the actual cost the dealership pays for the car as my reference and factored in 500$ profit for the dealership.

I had a sweet and sour experience at Duval Toyota. I was on the market for a used car, and they had what I was looking for. The sales team was amazing, from the moment I inquired online David (I don't know his last name) called me inviting me to go see the car. Although this might seem pushy to others, he wasn't at all. He said his team would work their best to get me as a customer. I went to see the car and Sarah Therien was amazing too. My wife test drove the car and she had a great experience. My wife said she answered all of her questions. Negotiations were friendly and to the point. We reached an agreement: I was happy and I'm sure they were happy too... and then we went to the Finance department and all went kaput. Once approved the finance lady did not want to tell me what was the offer over the phone and said she would do it in person because there were two offers and I had to select one... she asked me to come in with a void check to close the deal and take possession of the car. I'm not one to take rushed decisions. So I went ahead of the scheduled delivery and asked to know the offers. The offers did not make any sense. According to her I got a 5 year term at 6.87% and a 7 year term at 4.97%. Rule of thumb says there is a higher interest rate in a longer term so I was surprised to see it was the other way around for me. Also, I had specifically said I wanted a 5 year term. She said not the rate nor the term were negotiable as provided with the bank and that the only way she got a lower interest rate in the 7 year term was because she needed to add a couple of insurance policies. Obviously money grabbers. I've done my research and started to be skeptic about the offers. A couple of days after and when they knew they were losing the sale, the Finance team suddenly said that the 4.97% rate was available for the 5 year term. I had lost all trust and cancelled the deal. It's a shame because I really had a nice experience and wanted to take that car home. I don't know how much this is a bad sign of Duval Toyota or the industry in general; but they have to know the consumer is much more knowledgeable now and they should look after our interests first.
