2019-04-22 Judges in Canada also say Red Seal Certification holders can alter manufacturer design. My car was damaged by a Red Seal Certification holder because he altered manufacturer design of my car, and the judge said Red Seal Certification holders can alter manufacturer design. Therefore, I lost the case. 2019-04-20 Global News: "Williams, a journeyman millwright, was changing out valves on a compressor when the explosion happened." This accident killed two workers happened at Alberta oil sand because the journeyman lacked knowledge in fundamental science. The weather may be cold, and when condensed gas expands, it absorbs heat, making the metal brittle, and the metal shatters upon pressure. Alberta relies on Red Seals (Pattern Recognition) and is NOT concerned about fundamental science; that is what you get! Two workers got killed! Many more fatal accidents to come if Alberta does NOT change its ways. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ITA members are high school grads who think they know it all when it comes to governing trades. Examples of trades are: - welding which is metallurgy (alloy chemistry). - mechanical and electrical which are chemistry and physics. Trades are science and scientific processes. In ITA, you have a group of high school grads who know NOTHING about fundamental sciences and want to decide on who is competent and who is not. What has this world come to? High school grads are now calling the shots? You ITA members should really get a degree in science before you actually know what you are talking about. I read some complaints below about how incompetent ITA is. Well, that is because they are high school grads who want to be in control and do NOT know what they are doing. Lacking fundamental knowledge in science results in making errors on the job, having trouble keeping up with new technology, unable to respond when situation is different from their text book scenarios, etc. Technology and design change all the time. ITA training program is to train trades people to work on specific designs instead of training them to work on all designs and having the ability to read the technical manual. ITA's training program is a very very narrow training. Therefore, how can you say your Red Seal Certification holders are competent when their competency is so narrow? Many Red Seal Certification holders do NOT even understand the technical manual because they lack fundamental scientific knowledge. A good analogy is that fundamental scientific knowledge is almost like a master key that opens all the doors. Whereas design specific training is like a specific key that only opens certain doors. As I mentioned before, technology and designs change all the time, on a yearly basis. Engineers use fundamental scientific principles to create millions of designs. Try to learn millions of designs, it will take you many many life times. However, if you know fundamental scientific principles, you can figure out anything. Unfortunately, fundamental scientific principles is what ITA is missing! In Alberta, only those who hold specific key that only opens a few doors are allowed to work. Those who hold the master key that opens every door are NOT allowed to work. This law is definitely designed by high school grads. It is difficult for those who diagnose machines by fundamental science to pattern recognize like the high school grads do because those two methods conflict with each other. Pattern recognition is like someone who follows land marks when walking through trails, but the land marks and the trails keep on changing. As a result, those who pattern recognize get lost every time. The biggest problem we have now is high school grads think they know it all and getting in the way and causing problems.

I’m 24 and dropping out of my second failed attempt at an apprenticeship ( auto service tech & millwright) with the ITA the problem is there is not a lot of incentive for employers to hire apprentices therefore they don’t. two times in two different industries I have tried to get a job in order to gain the necessary hours to complete my schooling both times I found people willing to hire me but not sign me on as an apprentice.I currently work at one of BC’s larger attractions as a maintenance technician. I perform all the duties that a millwright normally would and we have a red seal millwright on site but I have not been signed on as an apprentice. Really discouraging because I was sold the whole apprenticeship idea by our own government 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The ITA has improved its delivery of service immensely in the last year or so. I manage our apprentices and have found this to be the case consistently as of late. Response times to register new apprentices or update workplace hours take anywhere between minutes and a few days which i find excellent.

Very helpful pleasant conversation

Horrible response times and low brain cell counts for apprentice advisors. Would not use them if I didnt have to, huge government cash grab I'd imagine.
