Brooks Racing

It would be foolish on your part to consider taking a vehicle to Brooks Racing to be worked on. My car needed the engine’s rotating assembly rebuilt and I wished to have a supercharger added. The initial estimate was that the process would take 3 months and cost $5,967. After waiting FOURTEEN months and paying Brooks Racing over $20,000 plus much more on parts. The car was not running right and was overheating badly. Let me say again….they had the car for 14 months and although I would call and follow up each week, it would often sit and sit with no work being done. I paid them promptly each time they gave me an invoice in hopes that they would take care of me but still customer service was atrocious. After I learned that they were getting evicted from their location and had actually moved my car to the new location I knew I needed to take my car to somebody else. I am very grateful to Emma for recommending another company that is doing good work for me. I could write chapters about the saga I endured but I’ll keep things simple: • There is little or no pride in workmanship • They do not see things through • Customer Service is a foreign concept • They don’t use a calendar and plan their work • They ignored dozens of phone calls, texts and emails over the FOURTEEN months they had my car in their shop • When I was expecting a $2,500 bill they surprised me with a 11,000 bill. • The fabrication work done on my car was poor. The welding skills are feeble • My car sat under a swamp cooler for many months causing surface rust to some parts • Various wires and cables were melted and or cut • They are very good at making excuses • Rotating Assembly was NOT balanced • Heads were not sorted • Relucter/Trigger wheel was installed backwards • Jerry rigged machine of Piston Rod pins I have payed thousands to have the shoddy work performed by Brooks Racing repaired by a competent and conscientious shop including: • Replacing the “custom fabricated” Cold Air Intake with something that seals to the throttle body and fits in the car • Plumbing the intercooler coolant system as the system didn’t flow when I got the car which was part of the cause to the overheating • Replacing the engine support. Brooks had taken the 4” box metal cross member and hacked a huge chunk out of and tack welded a little hollow 3/4” pipe in it’s place • Repairing the fuel system lines • The engine they built blew a head gasket before traveling 30 miles. I had another shop disassemble the motor and many many problems were identified. First the Cam gear had been installed backwards which messes up the timing of the motor • The pistons would extend past the top of the chamber when rotating. NOT good engine building • The bolts that hold the supercharger to the motor were only HAND tightened • I could easily list a couple dozen more bullet points, but who wants to read all that. I will spend another $15,000-20,000 to have the mistakes made by Brooks Racing repaired. At the end of the day Brooks Racing treated me like spoiled teenage girl might her daddy’s credit card. They seemed to think I was made of money. They took advantage of me and did awful work on my car.

Went in to Brooks performance with a pair of headers needing machining. The owner found the problem instantly fixed it for free and then showed me around his shop, told me his rates and what he does. I highly recommend Brooks performance to anyone needing performance engine work done. Don't let the front office decieve you they do good work!

I have had transmissions and engines rebuilt here and have never had one issue. Work is always top notch! Prices were lower than other machine shops. I will continue to take all my machine work here and recommend to everyone. Thank you!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND Brooks Racing agreed to complete for me modifications on my daily driver. (5.0 LX) Was given a quote for the work and assurances that the work would be completed in approx. one week and that aside from Dyno-Tuning to "fine Tune" the car would be drivable. Took SIX Weeks to complete the job with an increase in cost for the quoted work AND additional costs for Drive shaft broke AND wiring shorted / melted and ruined interior carpet. (I understand that "Things can Happen") Picked up the car (5 weeks later than promised) and drove 12 miles home. Car was cutting out several times along the way. As if the ignition was turned off and on. Repeated phone calls with requests for Steve to return my call went unreturned. Last request for Steve's response was on a Wednesday ... I finally went directly to the shop the following Monday (5 days later) and was ignored by Steve. After I insisted that I speak to him about the cars inability to run correctly without intermittently cutting out ... I was told by Steve that the shop was running 3 weeks behind and that I was not to speak directly with him ... but rather talk with the office and make an appointment. This shop had made too many promises that were not kept ... and in the end made it clear that I was not a valued customer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND
