So i dropped off my European type r H22a PDE cylinder head to be surfaced, and the valves refaced. I told the son, as well as the father jesse, that there were the only service i needed performed 3 times. I own a hi performance machine shop (i have over a decade of machine shop experience) and currently my surfacing machine is down for repairs, so i thought i could have them perform the work mentioned above. I spent the better part of 30 hours porting, polishing and machining on this head which traveled all the way from the European market from a limited production car. I spent roughly 10 hours installing and diamond honing new valve guides to the correct specifications and machining the valve seats. I use live carbide pilots as well custom newen form tooling to machine the seats to the optimum angles for this high performance engine. This is some of the most modern seat and guide equipment available. Our form tooling has been developed from hundreds of hours on a super flow flow bench. By cutting the seats this way it ensures proper valve sealing as well as a narrow seat margin resulting in increased psi on the seat margin. So after pain stakingly cutting these seats to the correct depth down to the .001 of an inch. It is time for the head to be surfaced and assembled. When i come to pick up the head, i see first that my beautifully vapor blasted chambers have been spray painted, the intake seats i told multiple people not to touch have been reground. They went in there is a stone set from 1930 and removed my multi angle seat work and replaced it with a single 45 degree stone cut angle. Absolute no regard for seat margin or location. If this was a 1940s tractor it would have been perfect. But this is a modern high performance multivalve engine and this un acceptable Now i have to cut out the old seat inserts, heat and install new ones, and recut the intake seats, as well as remove the spray paint from the head(probably have to reblast and resurface! As well as re texture the intake ports) . Absolutely un acceptable on their part. The first 2 pictures were taken hours before the head was dropped off to these hacks. The last 2 are how i received it back. Do not bring anything of value to this shop ever.
