I like to give good reviews, but these guys...I will rate this now, and hopefully come back later with a glowing report. So far, I am not a happy camper.
The finished products look excellent, which is why I went to them in the first place.
In early July, I took in computer-generated schematics of my yard and the proposed fence, requesting a bid asap. I was told they were busy, but could come out in two weeks. They never showed. To be fair, not one of the five fence companies we approached in Utah County bothered to show, even with repeated follow-up calls. This is no small job. We live on a corner and have nearly an acre to fence.
Tired of waiting, and running out of summer, we bought a welder, cut the steel ourselves, and made our own flippin' fence. Yes, I am a 60 year-old female. Yes, I welded, ground, and carried my own fence. My husband and sons did most of it, to be sure, and we still have a lot to do...it's a big fence, but I welded it and put sections in and out of our van in a very tight fit, and they're heavy!)
Now back to Cornaby's for the powder coating. I got the estimate in early November, signed off on it for 17 fence panels and hardware for $1300, and was happy. Then I got the call. They don't have the color I wanted. Would I like to look at another color? No. But I did, and back and forth, and the company they order from has discontinued it but has one nearly the same and on and on and it is November 21st, the snows are coming, and today Tony said, "Why don't you try Quality Powder Company?"
I think I will. Thanks. Four months of singing and dancing to start all over again.
OK. Now for part two. It is now the end of January, and after looking literally around the world for the powder coating color I wanted, I have found it is not available. I was standing at Cornaby's and the sunlight hit their sample board, and I found one that will work. My second favorite, but we had to go with something by this point. Tony said he had enough in stock for the whole project, including the gate and side fence, and can order more anytime if we decide to do the back yard, too. He's about halfway through now. I got the prototype back and a few panels, and I absolutely love their work. The zinc coating plus two coats of finish looks so professional, and as we're doing it ourselves, that's very important. I'm bumping it up to three stars now.
Part three. It is now March 26th, and with four straight sections, one 45 degree circular section, a double gate and thirty feet of a side section to go, I have just been informed my second favorite color, that I was informed could be easily reordered and has already been sprayed on 90% of the fence, which we have already installed, cannot be "easily reordered" and was, in fact, discontinued two years ago and is now unavailable, so Tony never even checked to see if it could be reordered. He just thought he'd have enough. He doesn't, and he can't get it. He said they will "try" to match it. This is a speckled color of several shades of dark green with an aged copper-verde patina (similar to the Statue of Liberty) on top. There is no way it can be matched with anything other than something from the original manufacturer.
No. This is completely unacceptable. These guys are back down to a single star rating from me.
Update #4 - April 15, 2014 - I have called all over the USA, plus a call to Mexico looking for ANY of this powder coating. Today I listed another ad on KSL. I'm wondering WHY AM I THE ONE JUMPING THROUGH HOOPS HERE? They are the ones responsible for making this right. They still have not once set foot on my property to even SEE how badly they've screwed up. This changes today. Why am I ignored? Is it because I'm female? Good GRIEF!
Update #5 - September 21, 2017 - Fence is rusting, perhaps from only one instead of the promised two coats of color. The uncoated section sits in the barn, and I get upset whenever I see it. Cornaby's? Do I order the paint and charge you for someone else to finish your job, or take you to court?
