Mostly positive experience with a much longer timeline than I expected.
I had a few well known electrical companies and one independent electrician provide quotes on a project to install a 60A sub-panel in a small backyard workshop. The cost to have an electrical company dig a 100' trench for the conduit was a tad bit outrageous ($1600 - $3500 for the trench), so I outsourced that part to a local contractor to save some money. After the trench was dug, Mr. Electric started work in early December and installed the sub-panel in less than a day, which was fantastic.
I called the day after the work was completed to ask about the timing of the inspection and was told that they would handle it and get back to me. I didn't think much of it and left on vacation for a week. Called them again in late December and was told that they were working on it and that technically they had "6 months to complete the inspection". I'm not sure who would be OK with that kind of delay, but I certainly couldn't wait that long to forge ahead with my project. I gave it another week for them to schedule and called back again, this time strongly insisting that they send out the master electrician and inspector as soon as possible. Busy schedules pushed out the inspection two weeks and the inspection passed on the second attempt.
Start to finish, it took 7 weeks to install the sub-panel and have it inspected. We were dealing with the holiday period and I'm sure a very booked schedule from the City of Dallas and Mr. Electric, so I'm sure that had something to do with the delays. With that said, I hope the company is able to provide more expediency with scheduling their inspections for future customers.
Cheers,
-Kevin
