Martial Arts

My eldest mentioned the other day, he would love to teach his friend how to defend himself against the bullies he’s encountering at school. The fact that his own confidence has increased throughout the years due to this school it makes us proud to continue to bring him back.

It's not the longest surviving judo/aikido dojo for nothing. Best ego free dojo in the city. The Geis legacy lives on and a man of honor never trashes another man's dojo. It's perfidious douchebaggery of the lowest degree and the douchebag who says we sell belts is from a competitor's school who couldn't cut it here. Obviously you can make groundless accusations without any basis except your failures. Karl Geis has taken the art of judo, made it uke driven and employed the maximum-results-with -minimum-efforts effect with profound results. Pure technique, because power and speed eventually fail with time, where technique only gets better.

I've been training here since 2006. The important thing to recognize is that the dojo runs as a more athletic-club atmosphere, rather than a commercial business. The primary interest is promoting martial-art skills in students. That means that the focus is on your learning, rather than your entertainment or self esteem. So come in if you want to learn. Genuinely learn. Nothing else. Lots of great memories have come from here. And, I'm not going to lie, some bad memories have come from here. However, you cannot gain if you do not lose. Humility and focus are not requirements to join, but are needed to advance or even to stay long. You'll either develop them or stagnate. I love the fellow students in this dojo, even if I don't always like them. There have been lifelong friendships developed here. I trust anyone here with my life, which is lucky because I do on a regular basis. So join if any of the above interests you, but don't expect to stay the same as you entered. And don't expect the lie of certainty. Just progress.

I work out with Mrs. Traylor in her cardio classes and love it! She kicks my butt every time I go... and I look forward to each opportunity to work out with her and the people at DGC. Thank you for giving me a wonderful place to workout... gyms are SO not my thing!

Excellent for children of all abilities. Wonderful staff.

My daughter loves taekwondo! Great environment for children to learn.

This martial arts program is a great program my son has been here for a year now and has really come out of his shell. I would recommend this program to anyone.

This place is awsome.

I was reluctant to try this place out, but thank goodness I did. It changed my life (even in a short amount of time, I might add). My insecurities vanished within thirty minutes of being there because everyone treated me like family, SUPER KIND people! Niceties aside, the training tested my mind and body like nothing else ever could, and I was getting it from EXPERTS. There is no fakery in this place- it's the real deal. Real martial arts, real discipline, real fighters. Though I am still at the most amateur level, I always leave the school feeling like a badass. I highly recommend this place to EVERYONE of all ages, sizes, shapes, and goals! There is something to be gained for everyone, trust me.

I remember going here probably going to get back into it. It was a great experience. Sadly had to quit right before I earned my green belt...
