I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lewis and his team at Eyecare Kingston. I was recommended to come here after Dr. Lewis looked after my sister and nephew. My sister as a young child had a strabismus which she was told by another eye doctor within the last 3 years had been corrected when in fact it wasn't. Dr. Lewis is very thorough and personable and explains everything clearly. The clinic has significantly better technology than where I was going previously and I was extremely impressed with my visit.

I've been standing at the counter for 20 mins and haven't even seen an employee. Literally, it's a ghost town in here.

This place is a waste of time. First of all I go in and pick out 2 pairs of glasses for my daughter, that’s all great. Then they tell me I can pay the difference of what my insurance covers and the actual cost when I pick up the glasses... nope. They called me over a week later and said I have to pay before they can order ok, I can handle that. I go in to pay and there is a customer in front of me when he is finished she says I have to go to the bathroom I will be back and I told her I wanted to pay she says give me 5 mins so I say fine I will go grab a few things and come back... I go back 10 mins later and she is closing. I ask if I can pay and she says no cuz it takes over an hour to process and even if she served me the first time there wouldn’t be enough time. I’m furious!!! I live out of town and went there to specifically pay and she screwed me around. Why not tell me that when I was there 10 mins ago! Honestly if u don’t wanna sell anything get a new job! Never will I deal with this place again! She clearly doesn’t know her job to keep giving misinformation. Go else where, don’t waste your time here.

We happened upon STR8eyes when we were disappointed with the selection from the other nearby stores. STR8EYES has a hip and extensive collection of eyewear. Sally, the owner, was very professional and attentive. She made our requests easy and we are super satisfied. They have our business.

Great experience. The Dr was great. When I wasn't happy with my lenses, we were able to switch them out without issue. Very pleased!

Dr. Lam has been my optometrist since I arrived in Kingston 8 years ago for myself and my family. He is affable, available, informative and pleasant. With a natural easy manner with children, our kids (currently 4 and 7) really like him a lot! Instruments are crystal clean, and he keeps up to date with the latest technology for your eye health. The central location of the office is great, and I rarely wait more than five minutes for my appointment to start. He is great with contact lens fitting and pre-laser surgery assessment.
Visionary Eyecare
546 Bath Rd, Kingston, Ontario, K7M 2Y3, Canada
This was my first and will be my last visit to Visionary Eyecare. When Dr. Lam showed me the photos of my eyes they had taken he showed me spots on both photos that he said were abnormalities that he found concerning relating to signs of Glaucoma. He said that I needed to have another test that is not covered by OHIP to determine the cause. He said it would be $85 but I needed the test. Considering my family history of Glaucoma that resulted in my Grandmother's blindness I was quite alarmed and agreed to have the test. After the drops were applied and the extra test completed he showed me photos again and told me they were normal and there was nothing wrong with my eyes. So if the test showed nothing wrong...what was the abnormality Dr. Lam noticed in the first set of pictures? Why did he say there was swelling? So I needlessly paid $85. To add insult to injury when I went to pay for the test I was told I had to pay $205. I asked for clarification of why it was so high and was told that was the test plus my exam fee. I explained that as I had stated to them when I made the appointment and filled out the info as a new person that I have Graves Disease so my eyes have to be regularly monitored and measured and recorded so OHIP covers my eye exams. I explained that all of my eye exams have been covered by OHIP for years even since the the changes that were made to what OHIP covers in 2004.
She said Dr. Lam says it's not covered and she said she Googled it and it doesn't say it's covered. So basically they are calling me a liar. I only went to this place because my regular place did not have an appointment available during my holidays. I should have waited a few weeks and taken a day off work. $205 spent for no reason. An expensive lesson learned.
Please Note : Graves Disease is not Thyroid Disease. It is an Autoimmune Disease for which there is no cure that causes your own immune system to attack various parts of your body not limited to but including eyes. If it is not covered why does OHIP pay for my eye exams at other eye clinics?
