Relatively short hike, with a suspension bridge. Trail had several trees knocked over, so we had to go around, and there is more elevation than noted in the Kootenay Park guide- it's a fair amount of hard work. Dog lake itself is to the right of the trail, and the turnoff wasn't clearly marked, so we went too far and had to turn around.

I am so happy I got out of that hell hole. The principal Stacey DeCosse is the kind of person who sticks her nose into everyone elses personal business. I got suspended once last year for stopping a fist fight, I seperated them so they wouldnt hurt eachother and ended up getting hit myself. Then even though everyone who saw what was happening said I was stopping it. But that damn principal suspended me for it. Its like b*tch really? I do not think any parent should send their kid there EVER.

Been traveling to the Kootenays almost all my life and I love it. I can honestly say that this valley of mountains recharges you the moment you start driving through them. The hiking trails, hot springs, horseback riding and other hidden gems makes this National Park one to keep coming back to for more.
Kimberley's Underground Mining Railway
111 Gerry Sorensen Way, Kimberley, British Columbia, V1A 2Y5, Canada
This is a train ride and an interpretation center that takes you in a small underground area to show how mining was carried out over the nearly 100 years at the Sullivan mine in Kimberley BC. Actual miners (retired) not only show, but demonstrate some of the equipment used. Inside is much cooler than outside (which is great in the hot summer months) but if you get chilled easily, bring a jacket or sweater. After the mine, the train takes you to the powerhouse where you can see the air compressors, generators and the actual model used in the planning office. Well worth the trip, the tour takes almost 2 hours to complete so plan accordingly.

Pros-
*Huge space! Very roomy. The room with the bunk bed also has a large closet and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
*Very close to chairlift. (Although we came in summer)
Cons-
*First huge mistake- they didn’t inform us ahead of time that there is a boil water advisory in the area. If they had, we could have changed plans, or at very least brought water jugs in.
*Aparently water advisories are not uncommon, meaning that they really should provide water dispenser in the suites. (They don’t)
*no A/C, and very few fans provided. If you’re coming in summer, make sure to bring your own fan.
*the appliances in this suite are terrible. The fridge doesn’t work (to their credit, they did send a repair man promptly. To their discredit, it’s just a sucky fridge.) The washer/ dryer can’t be used simultaneously, the dryer doesn’t dry well, the handle on the microwave is broken off, and the dishwasher left residue on the first load of dishes, but seemed to do better later on. High country really needs to just replace them with appliances that work. Oh, and the electrical outlet in our bathroom didn’t work.
*its old. Some Reno’s have been done, but they look a bit sloppy.
This place would be such a treat if it were done well, with just a bit of better maintenance. It’s a shame.
We definitely won’t be back.
